To start things off, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Ryan, I'm 23 years old, and I am originally from the small town of Wasaga Beach, Ontario. I attended Collingwood Collegiate Insitute in Collingwood, Ontario in 1999 and graduated in 2003. It was there where I began to take interest in music, so I had enrolled in their well respected music program. I believe it is safe to say this is where my music career began. Music has had a massive impact and an influence on my life, and I hoped to take that talent and apply it to something I would enjoy later on in life. I have been involved in music for quite some time now (roughly 1995), and I continue to take it seriously to this day. I play piano/keyboard (my instrument of choice), but I also have some background experience with acoustic/electric guitar, drums, and orchestral type instruments (which I learned in the CCI Music program) such as the baritone, trombone, trumpet, clarinet, and alto sax. I listen to and enjoy all genres of music, so I tend to compose and play a wide variety of styles. Yes, I do consider myself "crazy" about music, but when you have a passion to do something, I've always felt that you should DO what you love doing best. Music is my way to let myself go, a way to express myself, and above all, my goal is to inspire an audience who shares the same passion as I do.
Since completing high school in 2003, I took it upon myself to start building my own recording studio. At first it started out with a keyboard, software, and one mixer, but has now grown to several keyboards, and recording software (see studio page). This has so far been a fun, yet expensive project, but it has grown to the point where I can successfully record solo artists and a wide arrangement of instruments.
Being accepted into the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College in September 2005 was a dream come true. I was given the chance to interact and socialize with professionals from all aspects of the business, and today I am using their teachings, and applying them to my own work. I have had the privilege to learn from and work with some of the industry greats like world renowned producers Jack Richardson, Garth Richardson, and Kevin Doyle. The days were long and tough for as I worked in the studios sometimes up to 12-15 hours daily. The studios I have had the privilege of working in were always kept up to industry standards, and throughout my two years there I met up with several talented musicians in which we produced several great projects. I graduated and obtained my two year Music Industry Arts degree in April of 2007, and just prior to that I received my certificate in General Arts the year before. I had met a lot of great people there who shared the same passion and interests in the music business that I did and I am glad I had the pleasure to work with these people on music projects which included shows (playing), mixing, editing, recording, engineering, and producing. A truly unforgettable two years of my life.
My next move was to head out to Vancouver, British Columbia to start my slow and painful rise in this industry. I had originally looked at getting a job at Bryan Adams studio “The Warehouse” in Vancouver, but my career went under an unexpected change of direction in June of 2007. I had been approached on MySpace by an up and coming band based out of London/Toronto called Stutter. Stutter had already shared in some successes beginning with selling out all copies of their first album that was produced by Alex Greggs (Duran Duran) and engineered by Richard Chyki (Pink, Rush). They also went on to sweep the Toronto Music Awards by winning the Best Pop/Rock Group and Best Song awards for their hit single “Twenty One” in 2006. Stutter also managed to get recognition on MuchMusic with several music videos thereafter. I was asked by Stutter to come and try out for their new keyboardist slot. Having landed the gig shortly after, I had the pleasure of meeting producer and artist David Werner (co-wrote with and produced Billy Idol). As of December 2007, we changed the name to Photocell and are currently in talks with several major labels. In the meantime, I spend most of time recording solo acts out of my house and work on projects of my own. Updates to follow!
I take high interest in studio work whether it is producing or engineering acts, and I have been fortunate enough to have done both. I also DJ in my spare time. I enjoy all aspects of music, in other words, I can listen to anything and appreciate it. I enjoy writing and composing in many genres as well as collaborating on projects with other musicians. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the artists who have shaped this industry from the very beginning all the way to the present day. My favourite types of music are modern, progressive, and classic rock. To name a few, bands like Queen, Styx, Foreigner, Journey, Europe, Guns N' Roses, The Police, Lynard Skynard, Van Halen, Kiss, Supertramp, Rolling Stones, Rush, Saga, Genesis, the usual 70's, 80's, 90's, right up to now. I also really enjoy trance/club music. Now I know there are many who dislike this music, but in order to enjoy it, you have to understand it. It takes a lot of hard work to make music like that even though it involves computers and various technologies. What else can I say about myself? I'm a positive, hard working guy who just likes to have fun and live life to the fullest!
In closing, this site has been one of my projects to keep me going and further prepare me for the road ahead! I want to personally thank all of those who have supported me throughout the years because it is all of you that have pushed me to do my very best. Friends, family, without any of you, who knows where I might have ended up. Once again, I thank you all. Ciao.

My Interests

Anything that involves music - I like to record/produce music and experiment a little bit with the technology. I also tend to buy lots of different crazy modules or anything to help improve my home studio! I like to sing and write my own tunes on piano. Other than music, I love live shows.. oh wait, I guess it's still music we're talking about. I live a dull life ;) Currently in a band called Stutter as their keyboardist. I also enjoy meeting and collaborating with other musicians.
