Music; Punk, New Wave, Big band, I'm all over the map. Movies, Travel, Drums, and strange people.
I like just about everybody so no problem with "meeting". As far as that goes, though, I've met the girl of my dreams at long last and currently rank as the happiest guy walking around on planet earth.
These days I'm completely nuts for The Ravonettes and am crazily searching for anything else new or different to listen to but it seems like all formula "Cochella" and KROQ punk out there. Blame it on my dom friends, they got me into that Ravonettes mess. I'm also really liking the Detroit Cobras as well.
Recently pursuing blind alleys via Netfilix and Tivo which have yielded some pretty awesome movies. Some examples: Sypathy for Mr. Vengeance, 2 Seconds, Sweet Land, KONTROLL, Hight Tension, "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring Again", D.E.B.S., So Close, it just goes on and on. I'm a huge fan of Korean movies like Oasis and Phone, and think they're pretty much the ticket when it comes to Asia Extreme cinema. Not that I didn't mind Ichi The Killer, One Missed Call or D.O.A., it's just that Takishe Mike is pretty hit or miss. I'm also currently watching ALL of Gene Tierney's movies as I can get my hands on them. "Heaven Can Wait", "Laura", "The Razor's Edge", tons more have been fabulous. What a beautiful, classy, and amazing acrtress!! I have also dived headlong into Film Noir where I have been ripping through them at a fantastic rate. Always a great topic of conversation, Film Noir...
Mostly movies on the Tivo. Partially addicted to LOST. Previously addicted to Star Trek Voyager, Seven of Nine, and all that that entails.
Just finished Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons and loved it. Sci Fi guy does Vampire horror book. How rad! Re reading Darwin's Radio and debating the sequel to Hyperion (also by Dan Simmons). Very lugubriously reading the Gene Tierney biography a few pages at a time when depressed or happy. I seem to like it when my emotions are at their extremes for some reason...
I've always idolized The Ramones for creating a musical sound the world had never heard before.
