Known to most as the "The People's Choice", DJ KAZ is a talent that the entertainment industry has long awaited to bring back since the early days of dj-ing. Following in the footsteps of forgotten legends such as Kool Herc, Francis Grosso, King Tubby and Jam Master Jay, KAZ hopes to share that platform with these legendary dj's one day. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, KAZ's musical background started at a very young age. At 10, he wrote and produced his first HIP-HOP song with nothing more then a Cassio keyboard and a karaoke machine. At 15 started a HIP-HOP group with friends in high school, age 19, taught himself how to dj, and at age 24 got involved as a profesional in the radio brodcasting field.KAZ's knowldege of musicical artists has always had people mezmorized. After a family function that he had just dj-ed for fun, KAZ realized that he had a talent for making people move. So with that said, he scraped up the little money he had to purchase his first dj set. Staying up late, missing work and school, KAZ was determined to be as great of a dj as the ones that he had mimicked as a young kid. It was one night that KAZ was asked by a dj-ing mentor, DJ Puerto Roc, to come hang out and be a guest dj, mixing live on the air at a college station in Ellensburg, WA. With a background as an MC and a DJ, he realized that those two things went hand in hand when it came to radio.As a 2004 graduate of Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood, WA, it was there that he earned his degree in radio broadcasting. After spending 2 years at I-91FM, where he got his first taste of live radio, KAZ quickly landed his first professional radio job with MIX 92.5FM in Seattle, WA. After only 6 months there, he was asked to become an assitant morning show producer for the "Mitch & Lisa Morning Show". Keeping a full schedule, he returned back to his old stomping grounds at I-91FM where he had his own weekly show, and also became a show producer at 1150AM KKNW in Seattle, WA.Returning to San Francisco, CA in 2006 working for one of the largest radio corporations, Clear Channel, KAZ worked under the same roof with legendary radio veterans Chuey Gomez, Don Bleu, DJ Rick Lee and Renel.
It was there that he launched his highly reconized podcasting show "The Power Hour" that exploded on the scene. The show has been a success and heard all across the world from London to China and all over the U.S. KAZ is currently a member of the MOViN 92.5FM family in Seattle, WA, where he is in the process of developing mixshows and ready to bring an excitful on-air presents to the station.You can catch KAZ pretty much everywhere from his radio shows, speaking to kids, community events, night clubs to his musical production. Definitely more then just your average dj, KAZ is very true at what he does. He puts the dj back in dj-ing. Respected by the community and the industry, KAZ definitely has worked long and hard to earn the title ------ "The People's Choice".
