About Me

I'm big on my family and friends. I try to stay open-minded with people and keep an optimistic outlook on life. Overall, I'm pretty reasonable, well grounded, and easy going. Often I have a relentless sarcastic wit, usually out of love, so if you can hang, that'd be wassup. Deep down I struggle with understanding why we do certain things the way we do. But too much negativity is annoying, so I say: check yo'self before you wreck yo'self. Anyway, I currently live in Oakland on Lake Merritt, I work two jobs: radio and banking. And I def get out when I can.

My Interests

Art is a passion, music is my life. I like to draw, and I love listening to and making my own music. I play the trumpet, piano, and guitar. And I write songs because I like poetry. But I ain't an entire sap, I like sports and my teams: Warriors, Giants, and 49ers! I also like video games where I get to shoot yo' ass up! On a more serious note, I've become more interested in things like politics, and scientific studies. And with such awareness of the earth's ecological state, I guess you could say I'm trying to be more pro-active. I actually want to be part of a cause, I'm just trying to find my calling.

I'd like to meet:

Will Smith, Sean Combs, and MTV's Sway.

Hold up, hold up, hold up... Holla for a dolla!

Music:

I'm very eclectic when it comes to music. I actually enjoy listening to a lot of acoustic songs and oldies from jazz to doo-wop, rock & roll to classic rock, soul/funk to the sounds of the 80's. But I'm a 90's kid so even everything from then to now including hip-hop, R&B, electronica, and alternative. Some of my favorite bands and artists are: Frank Sinatra, Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Santana, Coldplay, Weezer, Green Day, Michelle Branch, Alicia Keys, Usher, Micheal Jackson, Lupe Fiasco, Outkast, Ice Cube, and Nas. I won't be cliche, but I'm pretty sure I could gig to anything.

Movies:

I'm pretty big on movies too, I like all kinds. Die Hard's probably my favorite series. In fact, Bruce Willis is the shit: Sin City, Unbreakable, The 5th Element, etc. I'm just a sucker for super-hero/comic book/sci-fi movies, I grew up on that kinda stuff. But I also like many independent films, and films that emphisize on character study. Dramas are cool, horrors always make for a good time, but good comedies are hard to come by. I'm actually actor-driven (Nicolas Cage, Jim Carey), but some of my favorites include: Smokin' Aces, The Truman show, Adaptation, The Girl Next Door, and Independence Day.

Television:

I watch TV all the time, it's rediculous. I just can't stand reality TV anymore, that junk get's on my nerve surprisingly. Lately, I've been watching a lot of Law and Order including Criminal Intenet and SVU. I also really like The History Channel, I think everyone does. Now, as for MY shows, currently it's Heroes and Smalleville. Overall, my all-time favorites are: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Saved by the Bell. And then of course, whenever it's football and basketball season... you can find me on the couch, son!

Books:

I haven't read too many books, but I do like to read. More often, I read newspapers or magazines such as TIME; probably my main source for current events. However, I really like Shakespeare. I like poetry, as I've mentioned, but I'm more fascinated with how his work still holds relevance even in today's society. All of his work, more ways than one, depict the core essences of human nature. His style of writing -unique for it's poetic display- is also cleverly left open to interpretation, yet reamains completely relative, thus making it genius because we still analyze and apply his themes to our own lives today... 400 years later. I'd have to say The Tempest, a more less serious enactment, is probably my favorite.

Heroes:

Phillip West. We've known each other since elementary school. Back in the day, I used to pick on him, then he turned out to be one of my best friends. In high school we got better, we joined the football teams and had a few classes. We did a lot of stupid shit, haha, but he was my boy. Not too many realize how close we were, despite typical ups and downs you go through in high school, but that doesn't matter. I love and miss this guy. After graduation he became a Marine. He served and died for his country in this War on Terror. He was 19.

Sometimes I don't get myself. And I know it's because I think about too many things, way too much. One might say such a person would be more self-aware, but naw, that kind of stuff just make...
