About Me

visual communicator | conscious creative | music junkie | bookworm | zeitgist lefty |
Since completing the Graphic Design program at OCAD in 2006, Christine has been successfully operating her own independent freelance design company, c*mango design . Backed also by an education at Ryerson’s New Media program and Langara College’s Fine Arts program, this Philippine-born, Los Angeles and Vancouver-raised artist has become well-recognized in Toronto and Vancouver’s creative communities for her innovative designs.
Christine’s graphic weapons of choice are web design and print media. Over the last 2 years, c*mango design has garnered clients in film, music, fashion/beauty, theatre as well as the non-profit sector - developing unique brand identities and materials for each. Most recently, the award-winning designer has taken on the role of layout artist for Exclaim! Magazine, a reputed monthly music publication distributed across Canada.
Her work is delicately balanced by her affection for the most current design strategies and her inherent romanticism for classical applications. She is an illustrative storyteller, able to convey a wide spectrum of sentiment into concise but vibrant imaging. As a visual narrator, Christine’s messaging techniques are persuasively touching, leaving the audience with a lasting impression. Whether focused on colour palettes or word marks, typography or web navigation, this early-adopter’s work is both inventive and cohesive.
Christine’s has great attention to detail and to her client’s satisfaction, and her ability to explain complex design and aesthetic concepts makes the process of working with her interesting, interactive and a lot of fun. It is always a pleasure working with Christine and I would not hesitate to recommend her. - Anjana Dooling, Communications Strategy & Event Planning
Christine Mangosing produces high quality work in a timely manner. I am asked regularly about her work from admirers of the website and business cards she produced for ArtReach Toronto. - Shahina Sayani, Program Manager ArtReach Toronto
She is able to take what is in my head and lay it out on the page. She brings to life the pictures painted on my closed eyelids. - Ravi Jain, Artistic Director WhyNot Theatre
In order to counter the sedentary and solitary tendencies of pushing pixels as an independent freelance designer, Christine is also a professional actor and playwright. In 2008 alone, she participated in 2 theatre productions, both of which were highly-acclaimed by theatre press, nationwide. As part of a collective, she co-wrote and starred in Carlos Bulosan Theatre’s (CBT) People Power. This hard-hitting reflection of the 1986 People Power revolution in the Philippines received 4 Dora Award nominations and 1 win this past June. Christine’s second ensemble production, Baggage, was a reviewer favourite during the Toronto Fringe Festival. Baggage made the National Posts Top 5 Picks list, received 4 of 5 stars with Eye Weekly and 3 of 4 N’s with Now Magazine. It was also named Outstanding Ensemble for The Toronto Fringe Festival 2008.
As of 2004, Christine has been a board member of the Kapisanan Philippine Centre for Arts + Culture located in Toronto’s historic Kensington Market district, where she is also currently a artist-in-residence.
