About Me

We make junk up... We do something we like to call improv comedy... We have our own theatre located right on the square in downtown Springfield, MO. 301 Park Central East. We are next door to the left of Icon (if you're outside Icon looking at it, not inside it.)
The Skinny Improv is an improvisational comedy group that started in 2002 with eight improvisers and has grown to over thirty. In November 2004, The Skinny opened its own comedy theatre on the square in downtown Springfield, MO. The Skinny performs its award winning mainstage show every Friday and Saturday night at 7:30pm (tickets are $12 for Gen. Adm. $10 for students).
The Skinny also travels all around the country performing for thousands of individuals. If you are interested in booking The Skinny Improv please call us at (417) 831-LAFF, or you can either leave a message or go to our website @ www.theskinnyimprov.com.
THE MAINSTAGE SHOW:
The Skinny Improv will continue their award winning, nationally recognized main stage show this weekend. Following these shows are two late night performances featuring Improv Sportz (Fridays @ 10 pm). Admission is $10 for students and $12 general admission. For tickets and reservations call 417-831-LAFF or email us at [email protected]. Reservations are requested.
IMPROV SPORTZ:
This competitive night of improv comedy is quickly becoming the funniest thing to do late night. Improv Sportz pits three competing teams of improvisors head to head with you the audience deciding the winner. You give the points, you crown the winner, and everyone is involved. This show can be seen Friday nights at 10 pm and is only $3 (but if you come to the 7:30 Skinny Improv Mainstage show on Friday you can stick around for free!)
TRIFECTA:
What is Trifecta? It's the Skinny Improv's 3-man, late night, long-form show!
Trifecta is a three man show with the talents of Jeff Jenkins, Mystery Jeff Houghton, and Nick Semar. An audience suggestion is taken at the beginning and then these three improvisers create a sundry of characters who intermingle stories. It's a fan favorite that will make you laugh you pants off! (not literally) Keep an eye out for bulletins letting you know when Trifecta is happening! Also, check out Trifecta's own MySpace page!
SIDEKICK SKETCH COMEDY:

SIDEKICK Sketch Comedy is The Skinny Improv's sketch team. "It's sort of like SNL on stage," is how they'll explain it to you. Their outrageous, oddball humor blends live and taped sketches for a full length show of hilarity. This collaborative effort consists of head-writer Johnny Mello and performers Jeff Jenkins, Stephanie Dixon, Kaci Wilhoit, Tim Lee, & Nick Semar. Their next show centers around a group of kids in high school and is titled "High School Dreamz" (cheesy we know...) Performances are May 3-5. Performances on the 3rd begin @ 8pm & 10pm. Performances on the 4th & 5th begin @ 10pm & 11:30pm. Sorry though kids, this show may not be suitable for younger audiences... (Check out their own MySpace page w/ a lot of video!)
BETTY IMPROV:

Betty is an uproarious all girl improv group. This mixture of some of Springfield's funniest ladies will leave you dizzy with laughter. Come watch as 5 girls take the stage and your suggestions and have you rolling with laughter. Betty performs Thursday nights @ 8pm @ Cassil's Coffee House, 2925 W Republic Rd.(Check out their own MySpace page!)
THE SNOWBALL EFFECT:

The Snowball Effect, headed by Johnny Mello, dives into the exciting and murky world of classic literature. This group of hysterical performers take your suggestions that are all based on classic literature and then puts their own unique style to them. A little satire, some parody and audience suggestions and you have The Snowball Effect. Check them out on Thursday nights @ 7pm @ Cassil's Coffee House, 2925 W Republic Rd. (Check out their own MySpace Page!)
THE MYSTERY HOUR:

"The Mystery Hour" is a live, non-televised, late night talk show hosted by "The Mystery" Jeff Houghton of the mainstage Skinny Improv. Jeff and his sidekick Dan Clair have guests, musical acts, and sketches that will have you wondering why you ever stay home and watch Leno. "The Mystery Hour" can be seen once a month in The Ten Spot, on Saturday nights at The Skinny. Stay posted for dates and times.
