Where do I even begin? I'm a fun, loving, energetic soul that loves to dance! When it comes to block parties, reggae clashes, underground lounge joints, I love to have a good time. It all started way back in Laurelton Queens, New York. My parents are West Indian of french descent; from Haiti. My dad is from Geunieve, and my mom is from Jacmel. Me and my older sister Fabbi (Fabiola Maria) as the first listed on my top 24; were always surrounded by all the parties our parents threw in our backyard home in Queens. It was really fun back then. I remember me, my sister, and our friends in the neighborhood would always run after the ice cream trucks! Me and Fabb would always get strawberry short cake ice cream; she'd be the one to always finish hers first, then she would always ask me for mines, so I would give her half. Til this day, we still battle our sweet cravings of strawberry shortcake ice cream; and I still give her my half!!! LOLL. Mom was always cooking it up in the kitchen, and so giving at the end. She would give all the food away to our guests. Dad was on the grill barbecuing, drinking up all the cognac, laughing and carrying on with his buddies. Oh, and lets not get on the music. Talk about music....whhooaaa...it was feel good to your bones type of music from soul, r&b, kompa, zouk, reggae, salsa, and meringue. Our parents were the King and Queen of 'party throwing'. Me, and my sister had a great childhood! I guess that's where we get our spunk from. As for me, when I was born, my uncle Bob was there in support of my mom. He's the one that named me "Melinda". He named me after Muhammad Ali's second wife, Melinda Boyd. Supposedly, she was a beautiful dark skinned brown sista. My uncle Bob said when I came out, I had the silkiest, finest, jet black hair and skin so smooth like mocha. So, til this day, he still reminds me every chance he gets, how I got my name. Funny, huh.... LOLL. I would say I have my dads sense of urgency to go for mines, and my mothers loving, humble, and embracing heart. I LOVE TO LOVE! I can endure anyone's pain by simply feeling what they feel. I'm a very sensitive person. If you cry, I'm naturally going to cry too! LOLL. But, I'm also very strong. I know when to put my game face on and take care of business no matter what the circumstances. I'm a hard worker. Whatever I put my mind to, I finish at the end. I don't allow anything to hinder, discourage, or break me down because it's all in Gods hands....so why worry? I STAY HAPPY, POSITIVE, AND FULL OF LIFE EVERYDAY! My mother always taught us to work hard for what we want... even if it takes us looking grimy, but we find that hard to do because men find us attractive regardless (not to brag); no matter how bad our hair may be looking that day or when we have to make those quick runs in the morning to the grocery store, while having any makeup on! HAAHAA. But to end on a serious note, keep God in your life and make Him your first priority! With this in action, you don't have to worry about anything else, but just Live, Laugh, Love, be Free and have Fun!
