AUTHORLESS is an emerging musical experiment, set for launch August 1, 2008. Ten demo songs are offered to musicians of all backgrounds and levels of notoriety, with the understanding that the songs may be altered in any way -- rearranged, rewritten, or reimagined. Then passed on to a new group of musicians to alter even further. After the songs have been through six stages of changes, all versions go to Paul Roessler (The Screamers, .45 Grave, Nina Hagen) to be ultimately mixed and mastered into one full-length album -- no doubt in a vastly different form than the "root demos" in the SNOCAP store above. You can help AUTHORLESS succeed by purchasing the tracks above. As new versions arrive, they will be added to the store. Since this is a fundraiser for AUTHORLESS, each track is $0.99, or you can buy all ten root demos as a package for under ten bucks. Both ways help a lot! To participate in AUTHORLESS, drop me a message!

Stargrazer is the pages of a songwriting journal: Using the tools at hand, I've been writing songs since 1997 and performing since 2003. Live shows take shape as simple voice and acoustic bass. All live performances are committed without any effects, loops, or processors, because I don't own any. And for now, I prefer it that way.
When I'm recording, restless experimentation is the house rule: sliced up improvisations, disconnected beats, found-sound, and FX-laden soundscapes get paired together with scratchy vocals in a lo-fi environment. Editing is intuitive and far from precious. The result is a recorded catalog that, while jagged and grainy, manages seductiveness and charm at the same time. For the time being, my recording skills are more early Sebadoh than they are Brian Eno... but I have aspirations to be a little bit of both!
Your time spent listening is sincerely appreciated, and comments are welcome. Like-minded collaborators are sought.

I'm involved in the creative development of It Takes A Village To Make Records, which is an alternative approach to distributing and marketing music. Like great jazz and classical labels from the past, ITAV pairs musicians with visual artists -- although with a contemporary aesthetic. ITAV's distribution model is based on magnetism: attracting listeners with uniqueness rather than with blanket marketing or saturation techniques. Listeners become seekers, instead of merely the receiving end of market research. Support ITAV by following the link.
