About Me

Header Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com! Click here to make your own!Dave Dub was first heard running through bars on wax with the release of PEANUT BUTTER WOLF'S "Step on our ego's e.p" (The first unofficial Stones Throw release) released on South Paw records back in 95'. He was teamed up with his then partner in rhyme PERSEVERE as the legendary SUBCONTENTS! However there was already a buzz circulating around Dave Dub in the Bay due to a cassette release called "Apocalypse of lips" put out in 94'. It contained classic tracks like "Domination", "Planet Rhyme" , "Super Fly" and "The Treatment". All together it was a 6 song e.p produced by veteran beat craftsmen TAPEMASTAH STEPH. They would later solidify their working partnership by releasing more material in 97' as E.I.M (Endless In Machinery). SubContents released a self titled cassette only e.p in 96' produced by FANATIK and one track by Peanut Butter Wolf. It was a classic cassette amongst the countless other crews dirt hustling tapes during the mid nineties. Tracks Like "Paranoid" and "Underbomber Theories 2" are still mentioned when those speak about South Bay Hip Hop in the nineties. E.I.M continued to generate music in 98' with the "Industrial Death cassette" Dave Dub was also featured on Peanut Butter Wolf's "MY VINYL WEIGHS A TON" (Necromancin) alongside fellow crew members ZEST THE SMOKER, PERSEVERE and PEACESHINE. SubContents eventually dropped two 12 inches (Tables Turn and Death Becomes Her) as well as a full length (Notes From the Cliff) on the SUBLEVEL EPIDEMIC label. It was initially supposed to be dropped on the now defunct 75 ARK record label. Although the label WAS able to produce an all star record comprised of ENCORE, HOLEKOST, TURBIN, PERSEVERE, GRAND and the ARCHITECT (HOMELISS DERILEX) under the alias "EXECUTIVE LOUNGE". The Album was produced by the ARCHITECT. Dave Dub also released a 12" with the Architect called "UPGRADED TEXT". Dave Dub's most recent release would be the album entitled: "Programmed D" produced by BARRY BONES, CLISHE', TAPEMASTAH STEPH and MEGABUSIVE. Although Dave's discography is fragmented and extensive, the above mentioned releases are most likely the most relevant. He's been featured on numerous different releases. Most of the BAY AREA TRUE SCHOOL RHYMERS are aware of and respect his work. His style is that of broken glass, difficult to piece together. Pure GENIUS! Forever innovating and developing his styles Dave Dub is a FACTOR in the Bay regardless if you knew it or not. Countless shows, countless cameos, countless legal problems and alcohol induced drug binges (the drugs and alcohol are past tense). In 2008 Dave Dub is apart of several different collectives (check blog) and is ready along with his comrades to take over this International Indie Scene Scheme. I can see all the poser, hipster heads flying now. What a sight.....CHECK OUT ALL THE VIDEO CLIPS!
