the Waking Cold

...swept under tidal waves of fury and heartache.

About Me

Out of the remnants of pain and deceit, an entity better known as inspiration, comes into being. The translation of hatred, regret, and heartache into music has become the only sort of catharsis to keep our wretched death at bay. The Waking Cold molds these feelings of hopelessness and depression into a cacophony of grey skies. Defecting from the musical boundaries enforced by todays mainstream genre/subgenre mentality, a creation of sound and style is systematically circumvented through the hands and eyes of this broken mechanism called "The Waking Cold". ************************************************************ ******************** C. Greene has spent many years experimenting with everything from field recordings, guitar ambience, MIDI, distortion pedals, microphone torture, and keyboard melodies. A few years ago, Greene joined Audio Savant founder JWW's band Agalloch on drums and after encouragement from JWW, Greene agreed to allow Audio Savant to unleash The Waking Cold's first outing. The Waking Cold reminds the listener of the glory days of CMI, when BDN, Raison De'tre, and In Slaughter Natives ruled. Combining harsh and disonant noise, cacading waves of distortion, and throbbing pulsing beats to create an engaging and moving experience ************************************************************ ****************REVIEW FROM BEAUTY AND PAIN: This is very different to what I had on a moment ago . Its is almost more in line with the mover avant-garde stuff Cold Meat or Jester Records are releasing these days. Mix elements of Gothic / Gregorian sounds with neoclassical elements and weird of kilter electronics that When or Ulver would use. This has a very Ulver feeling about it all. I'm f-ing blown away after 2 tracks to say the least. Why would this be put to CD as this deserves a proper CD release even if its just 500-1000 copies. Please I you get one release out of these reviews this would be the one. I don't say these things lightly. You need to hear Waking Cold to understand what your doing wrong in music. ************************************************************ *****************a short film called "At the Gates of Ruin" by: C.
