Mendoza rose out of the ashes of their previous incarnation in 2006 with the aim to create something different to what was orbiting the world of alternative/electro rock as it stood. With introduction of a whole new set of noise operas Mendoza are back tearing up stages everywhere since early 2006 to enthusiastic receptions, with 39 shows under their belts this year.
Their live show is where the mayhem really takes hold, as www.drop-D.ie say "They've built a bit of name for themselves so far, attracting large crowds and some major label attention with their semi-legendary live performances...This band tears it up like so few do these days and they seem to have found a balance between writing good songs and making a different noise to everyone else"
Recently Mendoza have played shows with Shotgun Club, Gigevent, supporting L.A. band Love Lies Sleeping on their Irish tour, Exposed in The Bowery (Waterford) and The Volt Sessions. They were Electric Fix Artist Of The Fortnight in August, and also played to some acclaim in London 3 times this year, including the legendary Dublin Castle venue in Camden. November 30th saw Mendoza open for The Thermals (sub pop) who are on a European tour, January saw them play to a Packed Temple Bar music Centre at at the Worldwide polish charity event WOSP, and they continue to bring Dublin more Death Via Satellite, the club they run monthly in Eamonn Dorans
All this and their first single, '28 days/Lights Out' out now?
As Road Records say, ' this is a very fine mix of eighties new wave meets modern day indie rock sounds, similar at times to the likes of interpol with their punchy slightly darkwave tinged sounds, its highly infectious stuff and well worth your attention'. Alison Curtis has agreed with airplay on Today FM...
Yup, well on their way to global domination and the eventual enslavement of mankind...
