A Futurist Theatre

About Me

BAND BIO
It's easy to be in a band - four instruments, three chords and a voice is all it takes. You write lovelorn ditties about girls you've never met, loopy songs about everyday trivialities, or maybe just streams-of-consciousness in an effort to sound meaningful. Get drunk, score girls, build an ego, forget yourself, fool yourself, write the same song twice, be content in-or-around the middle, not small, nothing too fancy. Just enough.
For Bob, Neil, Damien and Ruairi, it wasn't possible to be in a band like that.
In the dark heart of the Blackpitts three years ago, A Futurist Theatre became the fruition of four friends in love with creating something new, unheard and unique. In 2009, the band's debut Caviar To Pigs was completed and welcomed with kind words from critical sources; words like: 'exciting', 'original' and 'challenging'. The band has vowed to write the greatest music possible, because there's no point in trying anything less.
For Bob, Neil, Damien and Ruairi, it's very easy to be in a band like A Futurist Theatre.

Press Reaction -
"Caviar To Pigs signifies the arrival of an immensely exciting talent..." - AU Magazine
"Considering our country’s steep heritage of music and arguments this is exactly what a tempered Irish band sould sound like..." - Hot Press - Off Her Rocker blog
"Tis been ages since i’ve had to pick my jaw up off the ground after a gig.But a word of caution, their myspace tunes do not do them one bit of justice. Check em live." - Ruth Medjber - Ruthless Imagery
"...the most avant-garde, loud, and obscure band..." - Una Mullally - Sunday Tribune
"What sets them apart is the passion of the four members – A Futurist Theatre are broken drum skins, snapped guitar strings and ruptured vocal chords in a way this country doesn’t see often enough..." - Drop-D Ezine
"There is no pretense here; no need for leather jackets or a bandana to prove you're rock 'n' roll; no major consumptions of drugs or alcohol in order to get through a gig; just four incredibly intelligent guys who make great music.' - Pauric Keenan - Flick Magazine
"The kind of music I would listen to if I was driving across the North Pole, under the Aurora Borealis, on acid." - Guerilla Review
A Futurist Theatre recently won the 2009 DIT Battle Of The Bands under a unanimous vote.
