I am
a singer/songwriter originally from SW Missouri .
I have been playing in bands, recording, generally goofing off since
the age of 14.
I play bass guitar, guitar and just enough drums to embarrass myself.
I have been married for 10 1/2 years to a brilliant and beautiful woman
from NE Oklahoma named Sebra. We moved
to Las Vegas in the spring of 2007
after living in Joplin , MO , Kansas City ,
MO , and Springfield ,
MO. We have one dog, Tabor (apologies
to Ty Tabor), who is almost 6 and no children.
I am currently recording a new CD and hope to have it ready to be
released the first part of 2008. Then I will be forming a band and
hopefully coming to a stage, coffee shop, bar mitzvah near you.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my profile. I sincerely hope
you enjoy what you hear.
Ryan began his professional career during high school
in 1988 forming Joplin, Missouri ’s
Out Of Character.
After two years Ryan joined Springfield, Missouri’s and
Joplin Native Jeff Graham’s Band, touring in support of Jeff’s 1990
release ‘Where It Goes’. This began a long running relationship in
which Jeff and Ryan would support each other in various incarnations
for the next decade.
In 1993 after a year of performing solo in Springfield and Osage Beach ,
Missouri , Ryan returned home to Joplin and
began, along with Tony Ferguson and Tim Metcalf, theWaybackMachine.
theWaybackMachine toured relentlessly for 2 years and in that time
released a CD titled ‘Boiler Room’ to much critical - if not commercial
- success.
During 1995 Ryan took time off to record some of his
songs with Joplin
area musician and songwriter Mike Avery. The result was the CD ‘Let It
Burn’. The collection of demos and finished songs were not released
commercially.
From 1996-1998 Ryan took a break from music, other than
the occasional acoustic show. It was during this time that he met his
future wife Sebra. The two married in May of 1997 and made their home
in Joplin .
In the
spring of 1999, Ryan again hooked up with Tim and Tony from the Wayback
Machine and formed PinewoodDerby. Again the trio played non-stop and
released an EP titled ‘the Ballad of Lance Flatbush’ in the fall of the
same year. The singles ‘Blind’ and ‘Modern Love Song’ received
extensive radio play. PinewoodDerby topped the year off by
co-headlining ‘the Millennium Bash’ in front of 2000 people in Joplin .
At the end of 2000, Doug Fuller joined the band on
drums to free Tony up to sing lead exclusively. The band continued to
play tirelessly until the end of 2002.
In 2003 Ryan answered an Internet add for Kansas City band
Axium. After two rehearsals, Ryan played his first show with the band
at a “battle of the bands†in Kansas
City - which they won. The band toured for the
next year from Oklahoma , to Nebraska , Iowa ,
and Illinois
until the breakup of the band in late 2004.
In
February of 2007, Ryan and Sebra relocated from Springfield , Missouri
to Las Vegas , NV .
Ryan is continuing to write and record and is hoping to put a new band
together.
