As dusk falls upon this day in 1347 a full moon rises over the great kingdom of Necrosis. A mist flows in from the foothills, lapping at the feet of the townspeople. A strange mist this is, for it seems to cling to the skin as if it were the oily tentacles of some hideous creature probing our bodies and souls. I could not be further from the truth, for as I looked up, I saw a dark silhouette with wings of a raven and eyes that burned the crimson red of hell's own fire. As it came closer, I watched as the shadows flowed to him as if they were moths attracted to the flames of some great fire. I watched trees and shrubs wither as he passed by them. I knew then that the spectre of shadows has come.
