Influences: Manchester band Hannah were formed back in August 2004 in a small rehearsal room in Stockport. Since then, Hannah have played many gigs in Manchester and London, including venues such as Queen is Dead (The Borderline) and Club Academy supporting U.S. band The Elected.
Hannah also have close connections with Blue Cat Cafe in Stockport, playing OUTOFTHECITY. They have been included on the Blue Cat release for INTHECITY04, with their track Starstruck, which included bands such as Haven, The Lovers and many more superb bands from Manchester. The local media gave Hannah glowing reports, such as Hannah steer things into the off-kilter world of skittering melodics and driving ethereal rock and The immediate highlights are Hannahs Starstruck, which is a chugging dose of dynamic pop.
The band then worked on their first EP, Sleeping On My Own Tonight, where the standout track seemed to be Stalker. This opened many doors for the band allowing them to do local radio shows and also appearing on local Manchester TV channel. Local media wrote better reviews about the band, including, Disguise has the light and shade of quieter Doves before breaking into a lush Chameleons-ish instrumental coda. This is a sound of a band coming of age and defining a sound of their own and Disguise takes the honours here as a true lo-fi epic. Splodgy effects, filtered vocals, loads of distortion and a Godzilla of a chorus make this track mad, bad and dangerous to know. Very strange, but immediately accessible and finishing with true enough, theres more than a touch of grubbiness about the frazzled guitar and garage vocals as these three tracks herald a return to the feedback-drenched glory of Ride, Lush and at times, My Bloody Valentine.
Hannah then signed up to Pulse Unsigned with the EP and retrieved a lot of airplay with their tracks.
The band went on to explore new places, venues including Blubar (North Wales), WA1 and White Room (Warrington), Kashmir Club (London) and Joshua Brookes, Tiger Lounge and Dry Bar (Manchester), getting good reviews from promoters and other bands.
In February 2006, Hannah set out on recording their new EP, As The World Turns with the jewel in the Nile track being Youll Remember. The band released the EP in May 2006, which lead them to get gigs at Club Academy in Manchester and The Borderline in London, allowing Terry The Word Christian to play their track Somewhere Or Nowhere and released the same track through Popworld promotions, Channel 4,
Hannah members, Hayley, Marcus and Steve continue their long hard work at pleasing crowds and work on their follow up to As The World Turns with an aim to no longer become unsigned Hannah.
