About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorThe long-time project of Midlander and Deserted Village lynchpin Dave Colohan, Agitated Radio Pilot is just as often a sprawling multi-piece orchestra as it is Dave alone with only his guitar and voice. But regardless, ARP makes music of stark sadness, melancholic warmth and the sound of the forest. He's brought his personal vision of folk to just about everywhere in Ireland and has played alongside such acts as Johnny Moynihan, Charalambides, Josephine Foster, Andy Irvine, Audrey Ryan, Voice Of The Seven Woods, Jack Rose, Sunroof!, Fursaxa, Sharron Kraus and many others...Dave is or has been a member of other such projects as United Bible Studies, The Driftwood Manor, The Magickal Folk Of The Faraway Tree, Cubs, Murmansk, Holt, Lost Roman Legions, Team Discovery Channel, Arkhangelsk, Townparks Foundry, Children Of The Stones, Lodern and others too shady to mention & will never let a band get in the way of a good band name...

Sounds Like: "Warm melancholic neofolk of otherworldly beauty. Highly recommended!" Vital Weekly"His works as Agitated Radio Pilot are timeless psychedelic folk evocations that could be just as easily be compared to Townes Van Zandt as Current 93. We're talking deeply moving stuff here that comes from a place where ego and pretension are mostly left behind. Many, many artists come to mind, yet Colohan has such a striking and personal vision that there's really no point in naming names." Kevin Moist, Deep Water Acres"The tag 'loner folk' has been thrown around when discussing a lot of Colohan's back catalogue but there doesn't seem to be very much self indulgence here, even though many of the tracks are deeply personal. Instead Colohan seems to have a preternatural sense of the elemental, those dark places we all go to take off our disguises. So many artists have treaded this ground before and seemed insincere, but Colohan's vulnerability, his human voice that presents these unadorned truths without spin or motive, makes me want to listen and believe." Foxy Digitalis"...eerie, melancholic space age folk...Orbiting a different world to that of the static singer songwriter scene, Agitated Radio Pilot may be a voice in the wilderness but outsider music has rarely sounded so warm." Keith Wallace, Do Something Pretty"Agitated Radio Pilot make pieces that are like marsh lands, beautiful and necessary but impossible to access, not unwelcoming but remote. You feel there is a core, unheard at the centre of these pieces. Every release by this artist enforces my view that they are one of the most important yet almost unheard currently making music."
