About Me

After a year and a half here on Myspace, I guess I should get to work writing an "About me" section. Consider this a work in progress. If you know me, you know not to take me TOO seriously, although alot of the time I am serious. For instance, I'm a recovering republican. Not that I ever have or will be a democrat. They're both equally worthless. I vote for individuals, not that it helps much, but that's another story. My point is, things aren't as they seem. I'm sick of the talking heads driveling back and forth talking about candidates as if it were some sort of sporting event. These are the people who seemingly control the world. Therein lies another story, since the argument can be made that the people we see in office mostly act as puppets for much larger and more powerful entities, but I digress. I'm also a Christian, which sadly has come to mean different things to different people. By that I mean that I'm fallen, dead in my own sin, and I simply choose Christ to deliver me from that. If that sounds far-fetched, then just sit down and start thinking about what will happen when you die. I think about it a lot. My faith has been challenged but God has always risen to the occasion. No matter what argument against God someone may put out there, I simply can't discount what I've experienced in my own life. If I'm wrong about God, then I have absolutely no explanation for what I've seen and experienced. I'm not perfect and have never claimed to be. If I were perfect, then I wouldn't need Jesus. Perhaps you think I'm drunk right now. After all, I've covered politics and religion, and this is supposed to be about ME. Actually these things occupy just about all of my conscience. Of course, I have to throw in my family life. You'll notice I don't include much of it here because I consider that private. Not secret, just private. It's getting to the point where nothing is private anymore. That is yet again another tangent. So suffice it to say that I'm not drunk, and I think a lot about God and politics, because these two absolutely determine two things: where I am and where I'm going. And to tell the truth, I'm not so worried about myself as I am my children. At the rate this country--no, this WORLD is going, there will be nothing, and I mean NOTHING but total, absolute government control over their lives in the future. Think that's an overstatement? Consider this. If you were born anytime in the last century, you've lived your life with this country in a state of war. War on Poverty, War on Drugs, etc. Laws are passed and actions taken but somehow we just end up with more and more of what we're supposed to be at war with. Now we're faced with a "War on Terror," and people are falling over themselves to relinquish what liberties they have left in the name of security. So we've come from 200 years ago when we had men like Ben Franklin delcaring that "he who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither," to toe-the-party-line hacks like Saxby Chambliss telling us to rest assured, as long as he's in office he'll make sure there's never another 9/11(I have the actual letter). I, for one, don't want to be mollycoddled into a security-laden stupor. I, for one, want freedom. I'm an American. I believe in fighting for freedom. I've come to learn that these "wars" we fight are nothing but smoke and mirrors to slip in something else. This includes the "War on Terror." Something more sinister and self-serving. Government ALWAYS seeks to preserve itself. Government ALWAYS seeks to grow itself. The original meaning of the word "congress" is "sexual intercourse." We are, quite literally, getting screwed. I'm sorry to make that analogy, but I didn't come up with it. OK, so, about me. Well, I guess what I've written here says more about me than I'd like to admit. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Consider this page under construction....

You Should Envy Me

If you had asked me ten years ago where I'd be right now I would have told you I'd be touring the world with some big-to-do rock and roll outfit.  Or else I'd be a studio hound somewhere with the...

Why Won't They Play Fair?

I heard the tale told once about little Ronnie, a young little-leaguer, who almost lost his chance to play in the all-star game.  He was sort of a poor kid, he lived outside of...

A Man's Gotta Do What A Man's Gotta Do

I have no idea what this is gonna end up sounding like or looking like but I don't care.  There comes a time when we have to say enough is enough.  What I'm about to say isn't necessarily we...

The Main Thing is to Keep the Main Thing the Main Thing Part II

Some time later, and I can't remember when, I was doing some research when I ran upon something that challenged my faith.  Just when I thought my faith couldn't be challenged, it happened.  ...

Well, it's been a while since I've written here. February 3, to be exact.   I didn't plan on going this long but I can honestly say that this was going to be the next one.  With all this ta...

More on Collectivists

The other day I was listening to my favorite right-wing propagandist, Neal Adolph Boortz.  He really is entertaining, and that's all he claims to be.  He'd found some article written by Newt...

Wake Up Call: Who are YOU?

Who are you?  Good question.  You are a special human being.  After all, there's only one you.  Mr. Rogers was right!  You were created by God, and He gave you rights that can...

2007: A Year of Awakening

Happy New Year.  Welcome to 2007, the last year of freedom as we know it.  I say "as we know it" because we have already been stripped of many freedoms, but it's been so incremental that it'...

Your Papers, Please.

I'm a believer in the saying (I believe it was Ben Franklin), that whoever will give up freedom for security deserves neither.  What about you?  Do you think the same thing?  What then,...
