Jade Pavillion is less of a band and more of a musical force. We create music but we very rarely play a show. If you have been to a Jade Pavillion performance then you should count yourself lucky. We aim to create interesting music that will be enjoyed. We do not always take ourselves seriously, but we are serious about what we do. We have yet to define a clear direction as our recordings, jams and demos show diversity that reflects our creative drive. We assure you, there is a lot more to us than what yet exists in the Jade Pavillion.
When we started we didn't really have any ideas of forming a band, and it is debatable as to whether any band has yet been formed. We are not yet what you might call 'cohesive', but when we began it was even more erratic. I suppose that when we started we were less of a musical band and more of a drinking band...a band of merry men. We drunk heavily into the night and often didn't sleep until we either passed out or got into a bloody great argument with somebody. You see we were never happy unless we were noisy, and this was the very beginnings of the realisation that one day we might create some music, for you see, we were drunk...but we tended to play guitars aswell.
One night two drunken slobbery souls invited a third to play with us...he played bass. This added a new dimention to the 'music' that was being created. It was by no means good, and I have heard dying cats sound better, but nevertheless, we were playing and we had a good attitude. The neighbours took a dislike to our painful wailing and overlong/overloud guitar solos and consequently two members were evicted from our homes. Did this stop us? Did it fuck. Things got even worse in the new place and things got extreemly heated, and yes, smashed as the awful sounds of 'the pissartists' were heard by an ever larger number of people. Did we care? Did we fuck.
By this time we thought we were good at what we did, and we recorded some 'demos' and even managed some shows, all of which often came to blows between us and heated rows over the 'quality' of the music. Something had to change, we all knew it, perhaps it was the genre we had created 'epic folk', with stage performances that were like watching Bob Dylan perform punk songs while being so pissed that neither him or his band ever hit the correct note. Or perhaps it was the fact that our crowning acievement was a catchy little number called 'peaches and cream' a song about how wonderful life is with a nice piece of lemon merange. Or...perhaps it was our name...'The PissArtists'. Personally I always liked the name, but it is one that is bound to be a stumbling block if we wanted to perform. No, I think the problem might have been the excessive boozing...
So...what did we do? We got wise. We changed our name, put down the beer can and wrote some real music. Whether you like it or not is up to you, you one thing is undeniable..it is music. We thought the new songs were sounding good, and we even had a sensitive little ballad thrown into the mix. It was at this point that we thought it might be nice to hear a few keys on that particular track. So the next step was to be joined by a keyboardist. Jade Pavillion is a different affair to the pissartists...although we assure you, we will do our very best to keep that wild energy that fired that early magic.
