The Los Angeles Times has called Paul Bishop ‘the closest equivalent of Joe Wambaugh yet,’ and stated Citadel Run ‘could hardly be better.’ The New York Times proclaimed him a ‘first-class writer,’ and called Sand Against The Tide a ‘lively, bloody adventure.’ Publishers' Weekly cited Kill Me Again, as ‘gripping, intense, labyrinthine, complex, and compelling.’ And author Dominick Dunne declared Twice Dead to be a ‘tough, taut, terrific tale!’
A thirty year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, Paul is currently the Commanding Officer of the Operations-West Bureau’s Sexual Assault Detail with responsibility for investigations in over twenty-five percent of the city. His career has included a three year tour with the department's Anti-Terrorist Division and over twenty years experience in the investigation of sex crimes. For the past eight years, his Sex Crimes Unit has had the highest number of detective initiated arrests and crime clearance rate in the city. Twice honored as Detective of the Year, Paul has also received the Quality and Productivity Commission Award from the city of Los Angeles.
As a writer, Paul's byline has appeared in numerous national publications, and his short stories have been published in a wide selection of anthologies. His previous novels include Shroud of Vengeance, Citadel Run, Sand Against the Tide, and Chapel of the Ravens. Chalk Whispers is the fourth novel in his Fey Croaker series, which also includes Kill Me Again, Twice Dead, and Tequila Mockingbird. A recently published short story collection, entitled Pattern of Behavior, includes two Fey Croaker novellets. He has also written feature film scripts and numerous episodic scripts for television. He is currently working on several script projects, and a stand-alone novel entitled The Devil’s Circus.
Between police work and writing, Paul makes time for his family, church, running marathons, and collecting sports fiction. He is an acknowledged expert regarding sports pulps of the thirties and forties, and has over five hundred volumes of sports fiction and several hundred sports shorts stories and sports pulps on his bookshelves.

LOUNGE LIZARDS IN EXILE
Paul and his wife are heavily into contemporary standards, big band, swing, lounge, and jazz. Going to concerts in small venues such as Vibrato and the Cinegrill to catch rising new singers is one of their favorite past times.
Everyone with an interest in contemporary standards as sung by the likes of Michael Buble, Renee Olstead, Steve Tyrell, Tony DeSare, Matt Dusk, Michael Andrew (Swingerhead), and Rod Stewart mixed in with the stylings of Sinatra, Sammy, Dean, Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughn, Anita O’Day and the hundreds of others who have made the Great America songbook a living, swinging, singing legend should be tuning in on the Internet every day to Martiniinthemorning.com!
This is the new home for the fantastic blend of music we all listened to on LA radio station The Fabulous 690. Host Brad ‘Martini’ Chambers is one of the best in the business and, come Hell or high water, he is bound and determined to bring this format back to a prominent market – with all of the pizzazz, DJs, and outside dances, concerts, and events featuring the music and ‘Lounge Lizard’ lifestyle we all crave. Until then, Brad is working his tail off every weekday morning broadcasting live from 5AM to 10AM and then back for his ‘Two Martini Lunch’ from noon till 1PM, and then from 6PM to 7PM for ‘Sinatra At Six.’
All ‘Lounge Lizards In Exile’ and anyone else who loves this style of swinging and crooning (and would be delighted to place themselves in the ranks of loyal lounge lizards) need to support martiniinthemorning.com by listening and participating. Be there. Be cool. Be part of the Lounge Life.
