Art, art history, (especially the movements of Romanticism and Neo-classicism) music, painting (once upon a time), life drawing (shit, need to get back into that, haven't been for months!)films (horror, postmodern) reading, like Paul Austeur and Jack Kerouac as well as many others.
- Equally confused twenty somethings who constantly ask themselves the question, 'Should I have a mortgage by now? I just don't know' .... People who are beautiful on the inside, if you're not then I don't mean to be rude but I won't like you .... Long lost friends (unless we were kind of friends but there was always..you know, something that didn't quite click.. you know what I mean? Time probably won't have brought us together) .... Oh you know, people who want to talk about music and art and arthouse films and what they think about this postpostmodern world we now live in.
I like new stuff which I know will anger some people, love Maximo Park, The Mystery Jets, love Hot Hot Heat, love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, love Arcade Fire, Cinematic Orchestra, Roots Manuva, etc etc etc. Also love some older stuff too, love The Pixies, Soundgarden, Faith No More, the Chilis etc. I also like solo artists such as Jeff Buckley, the brilliant Elliot Smith, Patrick Wolf, Laura Marling, Liz Green and Feist. Like modern composers such as Steve Reich and Piazzolla aussi. Also love an unsigned band from Manchester called 'The Reverend Coyote', they are frickin sweet, got a trumpet player and everything.
Really into new wave Mexican stuff at the moment, Gael GarcÃa Bernal is an amazing actor and Y tu mamá también and Amores perros are fantastic films. Guillermo del Toros films are works of art, see 'Pans Labrynth' if you haven't already, and 'Cronos' is a must-see for horror fans. I also love the work of Studio Ghibli, Spirited Away and Howls Moving Castle are the kind of films that make me feel like a child again, they are awesome in the original sense of the word. I'm also a fan of the horror genre, mainly films from the early 70's/80's such as 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre', 'Halloween', 'An American Werewolf in London' etc.
Mmmm...not really for me to be honest as a general rule, but I do love certain comedy programmes such as The Mighty Boosh (well, who the hell doesn't!), Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, Black Books, The Young Ones, The Armando Iannucci Show, Flight of the Conchords, they all rock BIGTIME!
I'm a fan of academic texts by the likes of Noam Chomsky and Frank Furedi, as well as the work of Michel Foucault and Edward Said. In terms of authors I'm a fan of Paul Austeur, Jack Kerouac, Zadie Smith, and there's some great new writers out there such as Stef Panney and Catherine O'Flynn
Bill Hicks, Che Guevara (I don't agree with extreme violence, but I agree and admire the way he helped to expose the socioeconomic inequalities throughout Latin America and indeed the World), Paul Smith from Maximo Park, Eddie Izzard, Freddie Mercury, Teodore Gericault, Simon Pegg, my Mum and Dad...oh too many to mention!
