DALON COLLINS

DYNAMIC INSPIRATIONAL VOCALIST

About Me

You've heard his full tenor voice on multi-platinum songs by Kirk Franklin and The Family. You've seen his cherub face singing his heart out on Kirk Franklin and The Family videos. You've seen him perform in Kirk Franklin and The Family concerts. Now with his first solo album in the works, you'll know his name -- Dalon Collins.Dalon Collins grew up in a close knit household in the Eastern side of Fort Worth, Texas. The middle of three, young Dalon was a quiet child who began singing to pass the time. Gradually, musical pursuits became an intricate means of expression and solace for the young man. Dalon traced his musical roots to his paternal great, great grandfather from the steep hills of Hubbard, Texas. Family lore has it that the patriarch of the family would bellow hymns and spirituals from the top of the highest hill. His voice could be heard from the hillside and miles away in the valley. Dalon's father was a member of a gospel quartet, who, along with Dalon's great uncle, performed extensively in the greater Southwest area. "I used to spend time just listening to them sing," says Dalon. "Singing just came naturally."Dalon made his first professional recording as a member of the nationally recognized Dallas Fort Worth Mass Choir. While singing with the DFW Mass Choir and struggling with college finances, Dalon's life changed forever when he met Kirk Franklin, then a co-director of the choir. "One night in the rehearsal, someone in the choir suggested that he 'listen to this guy sing.' Kirk will pull someone out and ask them to sing in a minute. Our relationship began from there," says Dalon. "One day Kirk said to me," 'Hey man, do you want to get into this group I'm doing? I'm doing this new thing, and I would really appreciate it if you came on board.' It didn't take much for Dalon to decide whether or not to accept Kirk's offer. "I had just come back from college and had run out of money. I knew in my heart it was time to come home." He has toured extensively with Kirk Franklin and the Family. As a member of "The Family," Dalon has become a seasoned performer and a first class recording artist. It's sure to be said that anyone who know's of "The Family," remembers and misses "that voice" of Dalon Collins. Well, the wait is soon to come to end. It's been long enough!
