the sweet ain't as sweet without the bitter

About Me

I use the myspace layout generator at UltimateMySpace.com.I started writing songs about 2 or 3 years ago. It started because of a band I was in but, as many artists do, I always wrote the basic idea for songs by myself with an acoustic. As that band fizzled (again, something ubiquitous) I continued to write songs. The first "Ira Burton" song I wrote was inspired by my grandfather. He wrote some small stories down on a piece of paper and gave it to me; I put it together and wrote a song with it. Its called Cathead Biscuits and Ninety-weight Gravy. After that, it was on. I've been writing ever since using influences from a variety of places. I'm not gonna lie or pretend like my stuff is more unique and more fantastic than everyone else's in the world. These are just my songs. Old-school country, old and new blues, folk, and reggae are probably the majority of influence in my writing. I'm just a dude, with a guitar, and a song to sing. My name is Ira Burton.Emancipation at DFest courtesy of Tulsa World/Barrelhouse Beat
