CORE PROjECT

SOMETHING TO PROVE & NOTHING TO LOSE

About Me

CORE PROjECT is a hip-hop / funk / rock n roll / fusion powerhouse hailing from St. Louis. Their groove based sound has been cultivated and continues to grow exponentially. Chris Taggart provides unique and textured guitar soundscapes for Tony Barbata's pounding rhythms and deep pocket. Todd Miller & Josiah Werner's deep and heavy electric basses can be felt in your stomach from a mile away, and DJ Heistbone XXL provides the frosting with his tasteful scratches and sampling enhancements. Nate Hershey & Dave Grelle drop the funk and feeling on the Fender Rhodes keyboards. On top of it all is Steve Wik & Kama - with their poetic and one of a kind verse patterns and harmonies - and Mathias - with his precise and not-to-be-ignored firey wordplay. This combination of players has made CORE PROjECT one of the most recognizable names in the midwest touring circut. Winners in the BEST HIP-HOP catagory in the STL Riverfront Times Music Awards in 2005 (taking the BEST GROOVE BAND catagory in 2003 & 2004), and having shared the stage with notable figures like: The Roots, 311, The Urge, Jurassic 5, Twista, Mr. Lif & Akrobatik, Black Eyed Peas, Vernon Reid, The Crystal Method, Kid Koala, Nelly and The St. Lunatics, Ja Rule, Nappy Roots, The Phunk Junkies, Tech Nine, Chingy, Adair and Deadsy. Be sure to support all of our new projects - EARTHWORMS, THE FEED, JOHN BOY'S COURAGE, SEVEN, STEVE WIK. Peace!
