I could never think of something like soup or a pencil.

About Me

Just trying to make sense of senselessness. Or sometimes, senselessness of sense, if that makes sense. Online portfolio for Matthew Whitney at www.mattsbasement.com

My Interests

Any activity that leaves the soul enriched (mostly art, also: politics, environment, travel, tech, the NFL, and intelligent, beer-fueled conversation about said activities). I truly believe that football leaves the soul enriched.

I'd like to meet:

you

Music:

The Streets, Robbie Williams, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Radiohead/Thom Yorke, MC Solaar, Blue Scholars, Royksopp, Claude Debussy. There will always be a place in my heart for Phil Collins.

Movies:

Escapism: Star Wars, LOTR, Indiana Jones, fun nerdy stuff.

Television:

More Escapism: The Office (Brit and US), Buffy, Battlestar Galactica (the new one), House, Lost, a little Idol. 30 Rock is my new favorite show.

Books:

Sherlock Holmes, LOTR/Tolkien, historical fiction.

Heroes:

My wife, who to me embodies every good and perfect thing, Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, the Mystic NW painters (Morris Graves, Leo Kenney), and the other working artists who toil in temporary obscurity.
