BEAT iN FRACTIONS is a Montreal-based jazz trio featuring Richard Le Gendre on bass, Alain Mercure on drums/percussion, and Ko Umezaki on shakuhachi. The group's earlier explorations in mixing elements of tradition and technology with urban beats in live, improvised performance are now revived and rearranged in simpler sets of original tunes and continue to inspire the creation of new pieces. Richard, Alain, and Ko perform separately in their respective projects, but the intersection of and respite from their other musics is BEAT iN FRACTIONS.
