The Rock Bastard

About Me

Who needs guitars! Blivit is a power trio that rocks, even with a keyboard as a lead instrument. the damn thing sounds like a guitar! their songs are melodic and familiar, but definitely unique. musicianship abounds, and lyrics thought-wound.Blivit was nominated two consecutive years for Best Original Band, Best Bassist, and Best Keyboardist in the Philly music awards (2003, 2004).Their song, "Dollar Bill" won song of the week on GarageBands.com...and "This Condition" is ranked number 17 in Rock//////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ///////////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ///////////////////////////////// One listen to Philadelphia based trio Blivit and it’s pretty clear that this is no ordinary band. Consisting of bassist Dave Palan, drummer Jay Horvath and singer/songwriter and keyboardist Jeremy Dyen, this band stands out among the vast wasteland of mediocre that is today’s music industry.Dyen, who also recently played on John Legend’s album, is able to coax some incredible sound from his keyboards. You’d swear that there was a guitar player in this band, but there isn’t! They get such a huge rock sound. Tracks like “Lower Me Down”, “This Condition”, and “Rockin The Boat” easily could be all over rock radio and MTV (wait-do they still play music?).Bottom line is that UNHAND THE WORLD is a solid and slightly eclectic rock album full of great playing, catchy hooks and unique sounds. It deserves to be heard as does this band. Check them out at www.blivit.net.Reviewed by: Todd Carlson
