Zoé's Soulrockpsychedelic Roots Music
My music is like Sunday mornings/afternoons at our apartment, we were not allowed to watch TV on Sundays a matter of fact it was forbidden the only thing we were allowed to do was to read a book and listen to music, so I spent the Sunday afternoons being the Dj at our apartment at the age of eight. Playing anything from Reggae, Funk, Soul, R&B, Disco, Jazz and Gospel—I did say it was Sunday—and what every I got my hands on. Mother loved Country so yeah that too. When I was not playing every record my mom had or what ever my cousin had left at our apartment, I would play my bothers guitar. See I couldn’t get the same sounds out of the black doll that really looked like the white doll I had. Back in the days manufacture thought it would be healthy for little girls psyche to have a white doll painted black so as to feel connected. The only thing that I could connect with, was the guitar that my brother neglected in the bedroom closet we shared. As a musician/sound engineer I geek out on using new and vintage gear, to create The Soulrockpsychedelic Roots Music. I try not to put any limitations on the type of music I create, which is why I’ve been, involved in different genre bands from rock, funk, reggae, Jazz and hip-hop. My favorite style of music is poly rhythmic sounds combined with multi-layered percussions, my guitars has a Latin or Afro centric feel, experimenting with delays and wah pedal action.
Currently working on an album, nothing is released yet but look out for a demo of tracks that well be on the album. For now hit the link to Motion's myspace listen to the track LIFE SENTENCE yours truly in featured playing guitar on the joint.
