Meta Smith aka The Black Carrie Bradshaw

I never did mind about the little things.

About Me

Myspace Layouts at Pimp-My-Profile.com / Black & Purple

I'm Meta Smith, a former actress, model and dancer who has appeared in over a dozen music videos by such legendary artists as TuPac, Jadakiss, Styles, Eve, JaRule and TLC. I've also done extensive work in fundraising for non-profits and I am the CEO of The Magdalene Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on the empowerment of women and girls.
I am the latest addition to the G-Unit line of books published by rapper 50Cent and MTV Books. I'm the author of the new sizzling book Queen of Miami
What's it about you ask? Welll
The hottest new author in street fiction, Méta Smith now delivers the tale of a woman who won't settle for anything less than the most desired men, the heights of the mad-glamourous life-and dreams to die for...
First thing I learned when I hit this town: You keep its night thing going, and Miami will give you anything you want. And all I've ever cared about was music. Put me in front of some ones and twos, give me beats to mix like no one else can, and I'll have everyone from bangers to quadrillionaires firing up their groove. Back in my Chicago hometown, all my DJ skills got me was my hyper-respectable bougie family disconnecting me from my trust fund.
But down here, they've got me Mikhail, one gorgeous, megarich Russian businessman who's giving me the world's glitziest party spots, more raw-and-nasty sex than even I can handle...and ownership of Miami's ultimate club. Now if I keep my game tight-and stay one step ahead of whatever one Mikhail is playing-I'll have it all. And the outrageous "Ms. Bobbi" will be ruling Miami's 24/7 party like no one ever has...no matter what it takes.
Also check out my debut novel The Rolexxx Club . I'm also Chicago's HOTTEST female DJ, (check my MySpace profile at Shejay1derwoman) AND an On-Air trend scout for a major television network in Chicago bringing you the best of what's "haute" and what's not.(Check my MySpace profile Icandystyle or visit my website www.icandystyle.com to find out which TV station I appear on.)
I am what I am: a fun-loving, sassy, outspoken, independent, creative, and giving person who likes to mix it up, think outside the box, have FUN, and live life to the fullest, because it really is too short to sweat the small stuff and have a stick up your butt all the time!
I kick it like no other! I've got partying down to a science, but I know when to be serious! I don't know where I would be without my girls! Probably dead or in jail!
I'm a Chicago native, (South Side baby, wild wild hundreds represent!). I went to school in ATL,(both Clark and Spelman) after college moved to Miami, where I lived for six AMAZING years. Now although Chicago is home, I'm a citizen of the world, on the road or a plane or something a few times a month, teaching a class, giving a lecture, or spinning at a party.
However the thing that brings me the most joy (and pain!), is my family and friends. I'm a single mom, which is tough at times, but my son is so awesome! He truly is my angel, even if he is a little devil.
I'm a busy chica so I don't always get a chance to answer all your emails, but I do try, so don't hold it against me.
The ISM
Randon facts about Meta Smith aka The Black Carrie Bradshaw!
I really am like the black Carrie Bradshaw. My life is so Sex and the City. My friends come to me for dating advice, because I'm an expert on what NOT to do. (Cuz I've done it)I'm a writer who loves shoes and dresses somewhat offbeat. I rock lil boys tighty whitey's instead of granny panties. I have a Mr. Big (who is currently on my shit list. Check back tomorrow.) BUT I wish she didn't get back with him in the end because he was an asshole. Kinda like my Mr. Big. I'm taking applications for a new Big, but there is a waiting list. Take a number.
My favorite color is pink. Ironically I despised the color as a child and claimed the carnation pink Crayola gave me a headache. I swear it did.
I am a very good dancer. I took ballet, tap, and jazz for over 25 years. I can salsa (needs a lil work), merengue and bachata. I can also samba. And of course I can step (Chicago style not sorority step). I can also breakdance. My uprock is sick but getting a lil slower in my old age. I can still poplock though. Pop lock and drop it!
I am totally and thoroughly in love with Raja Bell (so I don't like Kobe). And Leandro Barbosa (I'd love to samba with him on the beach in Brazil. Obrigado for being so fine!). And Boris Diaw (Voulez vous couchez avec moi ce soir? Please say yes!). Go Phoenix!!!
I have accomplished 95% of my life goals: I'm an author, a mom, and a DJ/rockstar what I've wanted to be practically my whole life. Gotta figure out some more stuff to do. Besides get filthy rich.
Sometimes I play dress up all by myself and put on shows. I was an only child so I revert back to my original forms of entertainment.
I like to talk to strangers.
I hate to talk on the phone. I suck at returning messages. I hardly check my voice mail. I rarely answer my cell. I'm thinking of just getting it cut off. Cells are like homing devices. Why you gotta be able to reach me wherever? God! I do like to speak to the two people who understand my complicated mind. They are both Aries: my sister Angela, and the one "who came at a time of joy, rocking a crown" aka Beautiful B. He knows who he is. You don't and don't need to.
I know all the words to the movies The Color Purple, Purple Rain, Under the Cherry Moon, Pulp Fiction, Don't be a Menace, Scarface and a few others. Sometimes I dress up as the characters and act out the movies.
I think the absolute worst state in the Union is Ohio. Sorry if that offends anyone but your state SUCKS!
If you haven't guessed by now, I'm pretty fricking strange, but I am not a danger to myself or others. Anymore. Unless provoked.
90% of my friends are guys. 99% of my friends get pissed at me on the regular for not calling. They just don't realize that I talk to them in my head all the time.
God talks to me.

My Interests

Writing naturally. Selling books. Make sure to buy my books. I love clothes, shoes, make-up, the color pink, girlie stuff. DJing is a serious passion. Fashion design too. And yes, I love technology, but not as much as you, you see? But still I love technology, always and forever.

I'd like to meet:

You want to meet ME! No seriously, I have had the opportunity to meet soooooo many people in my life. I can't say that there's anyone besides Prince that I want to meet and haven't already met. I'd love to meet my favorite actor, Don Cheadle and favorite actresses Thandie Newton and Halle Berry. Not much of a sports fan but I LOVE the Phoenix Suns (the cutest team in the NBA!) so I'd like to meet Raja Bell, Leandro Barbosa, Steve Nash, and Boris Diaw (I already met Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion). Don't care for football but I'd love to meet Ronde & Tiki Barber, they're hot! And of course I'd love to meet Madonna (we have the same birthday)and Adam Rodriguez who plays Erik Delko on CSI Miami because I want to marry him!But here are a few photos of some of the characters I have met. Trust I have a story for each and every one (some folks I have a FEW stories about). But there won't be a tell all because the scandal factor is a big ZERO. I pretty much only have funny stories because I bring out the clown in EVERYBODY.I'd rather just hang out with my homies in the ATL! More like family than friends! I MISS YOU GUYS!

Music:

In addition to being a writer I'm also a DJ, so I love all kinds of music, from Gospel to House to Reggae, Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, but Hip-Hop sucks right now so I'm not really feeling it like I used to. I grew up on Hip-Hop, and man am I missing the likes of a Chuck D or a KRS1 or an MC Lyte or Slick Rick. True old school. Melle Mel and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and Kurtis Blow and stuff like that was fun and often had powerful messages. If you think rap is hot nowadays, you're what, like 17 or something, right? But it's not your fault you missed the good stuff. Maybe it will get better. Labels need to sign better ARTISTS (PLEASE!) and not think solely of money.Rap at best, is just aight. But the image it is selling right now offers no hope and no inspiration to the youth. It's not cool to floss all the money you made slanging. It's just not. Drugs have torn up so many communities. It's not cool to keep calling women bitches and hos, even if some women act that way. How are they ever going to get it together when people keep tearing them down? It's time for some uplifting. Some fun. Some motivation. Some truth. Some wisdom. Some enligtenment. It's time for some really good music. But it's also a time for some changes in government and society, because if this is the voice of the youth then things are really f***ed up!But some artists I do like are Mos Def, Common, Nas, Talib Kweli, The Roots, Kanye (lyrically, not musically), Jay-Z, Nas, Maroon 5, Fallout Boy, Mary J Blige, Chris Brown (he's such a cute little shawty), Mariah Carey, anything on Naked Music espcially Lisa Shaw and Blue Six. I adore Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Lenny Kravitz and Prince. I practically worship Madonna because she's so FLY, I miss Aaliyah, I like the Pussycat Dolls even if they're the 2006 Spice Girls because they make me dance, I love Outkast and I think Spotieotiedopalicious is the best multi-purpose song ever, I wish we had a Salt & Pepa for 2006 though. I like Fleetwood Mac and I'm not ashamed. I listen to country music because the lyrics are bananas. I like 80s music and new wave. I'm a musical schizophrenic....

Movies:

Television:

Rots the brain. Read a book!!! But if I gotta watch, I love SNL, the History Channel, the Discovery Channel, Law & Order SVU, CSI Miami, Nip/Tuck, and the Cartoon Network or NickToons. I'm a kid a heart, but a mom too, so I have to be careful what I watch. My son never forgets anything so I try to make sure he watches good stuff, and not too many videos.
