Music is what I do...thats the line I find myself telling people about me. But hey, its true... I guess I realized at the age of 3, or was it 4..i dunno, I was young..I began to get that feeling, that itch, to be a musician. My Dad is a singer, and I guess i wanted to do the same. So at the tender age of 4, I asked my Dad between sets to let me sing and in less than 5 minutes he taught me, "He’s Got the World In His Hands." I learned it, sung it, and at the end, my parents said I brought my head back, like I was that dude!..lol Now almost 20 years later..(I’m 22)I am still doing what burns deep in my soul, MUSIC. I recently graduated from the New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music and thank such teachers like Reggie Workman, Charli Persip, and Richard Harper for pushing me to my limits and expanding my mind musically and Bilal Oliver, for freeing my mind, making me use my musicianship to think outside the box! I owe a great deal of my success to my parents and the programs that they exposed me to, like the Young Musicians Program. This music program was the best thing to happen to me, I met my best vocal teacher ever, Uncle J and sung with...in my opinion, the rawest singers in the Bay. I miss ya’ll..well anyway, we learned everything from Classical arias to spirtuals from Moses Hogan. We experienced workshops in Jazz and Musical Theater and those workshops lead to me auditioning and making the National Grammy Jazz Choir, only ten students in the country were picked. This opportunity lead to performing with many Grammy artists including Carlos Santana, Kirk Whalum, Dave Koz, many more. I really do appreciate the YMP experience, because without it, I wouldn’t be the vocalist I am now. Currently I sing background for Sean Kingston and soon we will be on tour with Gwen Stefani...I’m loving life right now and thank God for continuing to bless me.
