About Celeste...
Celeste Starchild (and yes...that is her real name!) is known for her unforgettable lyrics and vocal talent. You can hear Celeste with her full band, Butter Sweet, or as a duo.
Celeste released her debut EP, "Time Release" (produced by Kevin Gutierrez at Assembly Line Studios) to a sold-out crowd in June 2007.
Past appearances include live performances on XM Radio’s U-Pop two weeks running, live radio performances on WRNR, a feature on the cable television show "American Music" hosted by rockabilly Hall of Fame-er Billy Hancock, and many live music venues including Iota, Jammin’ Java, Bangkok Blues, Iota, the National BBQ Battle, Dewey Beach Music Conference, and the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
Her Story... Celeste's journey into music took the scenic route as the daughter of renowned musician Rick Schmidt who performed with the likes of Doc Scantlin's Imperial Palms Orchestra and Lowen and Navarro at venues from the Met in New York to the White House. Growing up with “alternative" parents, her memories of childhood include jam sessions at the house, picking dandelions for dandelion wine, and shiitake mushroom farming. But Celeste rebelled by following a more conventional path to success trading the mountains of southwest Virginia for a powerful career in business. But as fate would have it, when her dad passed away and left her a 1933 Gibson acoustic guitar, she couldn’t keep her hands off it. Since teaching herself to play, her rich and dramatic voice conveys her stories of disillusionment and "almost" loves...
