Diego Jinkus

The sweetest band

About Me

Avant-garde yet universal, Diego Jinkus fuses music styles in original arrangements that span the globe and bridge generations. Diego Jinkus writes, arranges, produces and performs his Latin Pop- Rock sounds independently, bringing true artistry to every aspect of his music. No other musician in the Latin music market offers such an all-embracing art expression. Well on his way to becoming the next big influence on Latin music, Diego Jinkus recent performances includes the 4th Annual Latin GRAMMYS. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jinkus began his study of music at age four. After a period of self-exile dedicated to profound study, Jinkus traveled to Boston, Massachusetts in 1993 to attend the famed Berklee College of Music where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Not new to leading a band and well-versed and well-trained in composition, arrangement and production, Jinkus has been highlighted by Musico Pro Magazine and has been described as composing furious funk and literally being able to raise the temperature of a room during a set. His style, versatility and expertise in the guitar has been a vehicle to get endorsements by Digitech, Dean Markley Strings, Seymour Duncan pickups and by Godin Guitars and ESP guitars, two of the most revolutionary guitar makers in the world. Each member of this sometimes eight-piece band contributes a meld of musical talents and artistic influences to the musical weave of Diego Jinkus.

Juan Turros: Tenor Sax
Carlos Huerta: Trumpet

When I play live, I have an amazing band: Me, and then, drums, bass, keys and a three horn section. Don't come and see us if you don't want to be blown away outta your socks!!
Influences: Influences are a very abstract concept. I did grow up in an environment in which music was a very random thing, depending who was listening on the house stereo. These are some of the artists that I have more present than othersThe Beatles, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Earth, Wind and Fire, The Police, Prince, Pat Metheny Group, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, MPB (Musica Popular Brasileira), Wes Montgomery, Brand New Heavies, Thomas Dolby, David Bowie and King Crimson. I even had a Heavy Metal stage during my early teens! AC/DC and Iron Maiden were my definite favorites.
Sounds Like: Imagine Prince and the Police jamming with Stevie Wonder and Dave Mathews, while they beat the shit out of Cristian Castro...and D'Angelo comes and makes the peace
