Please review these letters, and below them the nearest reply I can find from the Commandeer & Chief on this subject;
to NBC anchor Brian Williams, on the one-year anniversary of Katrina landfall, in New Orleans.
President Bush’s reply that sufficient sacrifice since 9/11 has taken place; that paying reduced taxes seems to be the best way for general citizens and corporations to support the troops, the nation, in a time of war. 04/24/07

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton:
President Carter in 1980, in responds to the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan, stated the Persian Gulf was of vital national interest to the United States and world economy. He also asked a Democratic Congress to reactivate the male only registration program for the Selective Service System as an expression of American resolve.
At that time local Congressman for Palo Alto, Paul N. “Pete” McCloskey already had a bill in the House to replace the Selective Service System with a National Youth Service System. McCloskey later became in 1991 the 1st chairman of the Commission on National and Community Service.
The core principles of McCloskey’s 1979 bill was to challenge both females and males with registration at 17, a one-year debate on the role of civic engagement, participatory democracy, and at 18 indicate any interest in volunteering for community or military service, by responding yes, no, hell no, maybe.
Senator Clinton, since 9/11 President Bush has constantly said we are a nation at war, but has only challenged the military to sacrifice in sweat and blood, using {hard-power} primary rather than an aggressive use of {soft-power}, NGO’s and internet technology to inspire this nation and other democracies towards solutions for the 21st Century.
Senator Clinton I request, ---I ask you as a veteran---, to raise these core principles as future law with citizens across this nation, and in the Presidential debates. Asking concerned citizens to support this nation-wide, year-after-year wake up call, by replacing the Selective Service System with these core principles of voluntary service with enhanced registration for both females and males towards civic engagement both in community service, military service, and like the Peace Corps, international service!

It is a mystery, why in this age of instant communication, abundance of media production this issue is ignored, help me solve it please.

BUSH: Americans are sacrificing. I mean, we are. You know, we pay a lot of taxes. America sacrificed when they, you know, when the economy went into the tank. Americans sacrificed when, you know, air travel was disrupted. American taxpayers have paid a lot to help this nation recover. I think Americans have sacrificed.

I wrote to over 200 White House staff in various departments, such as: Strategic Initiatives, Communications, Media Affairs, Speechwritng, Cabinet Affairs, White House Counsel, Faith-Based & Community Affairs, USA Freedom Corps, Inter-governmental Affairs, Legislative Affairs, Political Affairs, Public Liaison, Correspondence, Council of Economic Advisors, Council of Environmental Quality, National Security Council, Homeland Security, etc…. 200+ letters. These were the only replies. from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., NW Washington, D.C. 20500
I am a life long learner, interest in idealistic solutions that scale globally, to each small community and state government across this great nation. We need a national and local debate on what participatory democracy means today and to our challenging future.
I find human communication very challenging, try to be easy going, reasonable.
Get tired of indifferent people, both male and female, bitching and complaining in simplistic terms about the problems and institutions of society, but want somebody else to make it right and leave them alone.
I view these people as stubborn, narrow, minded ego's, even at times I am one, maybe at time you are, or probably have way to many in your life.
In 1979 I requested my Congressman Norm Mineta, former Secretary of Transportation in current Bush Administration, to debate the merits of HR 1730-1979 { A National Service Act see blog .4} which would have challenge each generation between 17-18 to consider volunteering for community service or military service or just say no not interested. I proposed to him the creation of an Energy Conservation Corps as an alternative to a future U.S. war in the Persian Gulf. He declined to support even a debate over the merits of this legislation.
Since 9-11 I have renewed my efforts, and have had many brief close encounters with people of influence.
I hope you can look over the many photos on display now and into the future as I carry on this debate 27 years later.

More than 9 out of 10 have not offered any comments one way or another. Clearly this is my Fantasy about an active United States meeting it challenges, which is not shared be those in power and influence.

Not sure why, even in a time of war, so much rhetoric (heated words, without substance), so little action.

So much apathy and indifferenice, while soldiers die, suffer injuries both physical and mental, their family, friends share in this burden, but 80% of this nation, probably more acts like not much is happening.

For those that say they did not ask for 9/11, Afganistan, or the war in Iraq, there is still the other dimensions of the War on Climate Change, enhancing our education, our economy, helping those in poverty here in the U.S., in the world; and helping to maintain our spiritual responsability to the creatures that share this planet with us.

Hope this changes soon, this year for sure with the next President and Congress.

Finding that one minute (or more) with Robert Redford. A man of passion, understood my direction of concern when I talked about the 1930's Civilian Conservation Corps, and my dreams for a Energy Conservation (today Efficiency) Corps

Some people I just better at Crashing the Gates then I am. It seems finding solutions to the problems takes compromise, so hard for Americans to do it seems, especially when it comes to thier particular belief system that defines their View on current challenges facing the nation.

Leadership comes in all shapes, sizes, uniforms. Leaders of the U.S. Coast Guard leader of west coast division, Leader of the whole U.S. Coast Guard. Hero's to me, and willing to listen to my views on national security, national unity in a time of war.

Corporate Leadership, Corporate Games:

Close encounter in normal reality of me with a MySpace V.P. Who never says yes to myspace friend request, wonder why, just another mystery, with no reply to the question.

Its true Tony is a great baseball manager, but he also has a passion for homeless animals, and treating them better. Not sure how he feels about my efforts at educating the nation about participatory democracy, participatory citizenship, again no commnet.

Its seems to easy to get liberals like Al Fraken to Santa Rosa, but it is so hard to get leaders of the conservative movement to visit and talk in the heart of the wine country. Al's running for the U.S. Senate, help send a concerned comedian, concerned citizen to Congress. And the Holy Spirit forgives him when his jokes fall flat, and he just tries and tries again.

Well on 4/23, I heard a lecture by retired General Anthony Zinni, got to talk briefly with him, another photo, and shared info on my current efforts, and gave him a copy of "Service Without Guns". Hope he finds it of interest.

Today, return to U.C. Berkeley: to hear reporter Susan Page, (Washington Bureau Chief for USA Today), and professors Jim Ceaser (University of Virginia), Fred Greenstein (Princeton University), Jack Citrin (UC Berkeley) give talk about President Bush's performance over the last year, his leadership skills, and his Political Psychological Behavioral Profile.

After this mind expanding experience I get to sleep at the San Francisco airport (sympathy for those that got their planes grounded, but also to save time, logistics) and travel to San Diego for the Democratic State Convention, maybe I will even get a photo with the next President.

The future seems to always hold surprises, so I will reserve judgement until the votes are counted.

Will be sharing info on this page to the candidates, their staff, and state delegates, if you do not hear from me it is because they did not like my educational methods.

For me a major mystery is who do I trust? Why is it so hard to get replies to my questions and suggestions on new ideas for old problems! Comparing what people say to what they do, and wish they would really ”Talk their walk”, which seems to get left out of many lofty speeches.

I found it interesting, probably the reason I am an unemployed clinical philospher.

Mr. Gregory: At President Bush’s press conference an hour ago there seemed to be on the record a little extra give and take between you and the President.

President Bush: “Terrible Principle. You think I’m nuts?
You think my sensibilities left me as a result of working hard on the campaign trail?”

Background: “I was” Was it you that said “I was”? Do you think the President is Nuts?

Earlier the President indicated that you might have been “jealous” that you were not a part of the small press pool that got into the oval office last week. What was that about?

A few weeks ago you replied to me about the challenges of being a hard working non-partisan reporter with this remark.
“These days everyone is assigned a label from one side or the other. I just try to do the best, hardest hitting reporting I can. I might be giving Tony Snow hell, but I would do the same if John Kerry had been elected.”

Were you just trying to live up to this principle? Do you think or know if from the White House perspective they age going to place you in a metaphoric “Outhouse” to consider your conduct?

Thanks hope this is not to hard hitting, spend too much time taking blood from people as a phlebotomist, because I am unemployed as a clinical philosopher.

Find it easy to get pictures with "people of influence" but little if any intelligent replies or dialogue concerning participatory democracy.
