Paradise, Utopia, or just a generally great place to live: that is how residents perceive the city of Genopolis. The sheer number of people moving to Genopolis every month is proof of its sterling reputation. Yet there is never fear of over-population. Even the one, albeit immense, high school seems capable of accommodating every child that enters its halls. But these things are not remarkable to the residents. The fact that the city is under a No-Fly zone, bordered on all sides by generic mountain ranges and surrounded by a thick, lingering fog goes completely unnoticed. The populace seems blissfully unaware of the troubles going on in the outside world.
At one extreme corner of the city sits the looming, monolithic form of First Genesis High School, the city's single secondary educational facility. Not only does it claim to provide students with the perfect blend of the public and private school settings, but also every accommodation that students could possibly need. That is, if they take advantage of living on campus (as the administration is always pushing for more students to do). Best of all, the majority of students are the most well behaved children anyone could find. They are attentive; they listen, and they do as they are told without question. More and more students at First Genesis seem to be adopting a herd like mentality for minlessly following orders, shedding individuality and independent thought as they go. All at the request of the faculty.
Fortunately, there are a few aberrations in this great machine of corruption; students that, for whatever reason, are not as susceptible to whatever is causing the change in student personalities. A handful of such young people have banded together in their hatred of the ever growing wave of conformity that surrounds them. They are known as the Guild, and their only concern is the opening of eyes, and the freeing of minds. But the question remains; why is this happening?
