Alan Freed, XM82 The System

Well, let's see here...I live and breathe this stuff. Dance/club music. All types. And I'm lucky to be able to share it with you.
Currently I'm a consultant for clients who need expertise in dance/club music. That can be broadcast/webcast, video, mobile, advertising creative, marketing, branding, social networking...almost anything that needs assistance in or with dance music and its fans. And I'm at WorldSpace Satellite Radio with The System, XM82 and WorldSpace 202, where I'm Music Director and Air Talent, with Dance Music News on Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays.
Before WorldSpace, I was at XM Radio for three years from March 2004-March 2007 as Music Director for BPM and The Move plus BPM morning Air Talent, Dance Music News Producer, Host/Producer of the weekly "33 1/3 Countdown" (2004-2006), "Spin Factor" countdown (2006-2007) and "BPM Project" new music show (2006-2007). I was BPM's Acting Program Director from August '04 into November '04 and again from April '05 into November '05 and Chrome's Acting Program Director from August '04 into November '04.
BPM, during my three years there, was recognized for its sound and leadership in dance music radio at both the 20th and 21st International Dance Music Awards in Miami (IDMAs), winning XM's only IDMAs with the “Best Satellite Radio Channel” awards for 2004 and 2005.Playing for a nationwide party isn't new for me. Before XM, many of you heard me on grooveradio.com from L.A. or on my Beat Radio Network of stations in 10 cities (Denver, Phoenix, OC/LA, Dallas-Ft. Worth, New York, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Philadelphia, Detroit, Kansas City and Chicago).
For a guy who's been in broadcasting I haven't moved around that much. I've lived in Minneapolis, Philadelphia, DC and Santa Monica/Los Angeles (6 blocks from the water...I miss that!). And I lucked out without the dreaded "face for radio," working on-camera as a VJ on a Minneapolis over-the-air TV music video channel, plus I've done the club DJ thing and, in the era before downloads, I sold CDs and records at a retail music store. Remember those places? Ran a house music night in Minneapolis for five years, too.
I've been loving and promoting dance music since I was in high school. And yes, Alan Freed is my real name!
