About Me

Grammy Nominated Producer / Remixer / DJCHRIS COX BIOGRAPHYChris Cox defies labels, but he has earned enough of them. As a Grammy-nominated producer, enormously successful remixer, chart-topping solo artist, globetrotting DJ and Grammy winning label owner, he has made his mark in so many ways that restricting him to one title seems foolish. He has concocted nothing short of a formula for dance music world domination.Chris recent accomplishments speak for themselves: * Remixer/Producer of 41 Number 1 Billboard Dance Chart hits! * Grammy-nominated producer of Cher in 2004. * Two time winner of Remixer Of The Year at the International Dance Music Awards (IDMA) in Miami. * Underground 12 Single Of The Year winner at the International Dance Music Awards in Miami. * Crossover hit remixes for Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, Rhianna, Hilary Duff, and many others. * Chris also revisited the mid-nineties dance classic I Believe by Happy Clappers in 2003, and wound up with his first solo number one on the Billboard club play chart.Add to this impressive list residencies at many major American clubs, successful stints in Europe and South America, as well as a hugely popular nationally broadcast mixshow on XM Satellite Radio. This led to his 2006 IDMA nomination for Best Mixshow DJ. His show, 12 Inches Of Cox, is available to XM's 9,000,000 subscribers every Saturday night on channel 81, BPM (2 time IDMA winner for Best Satellite Dance station).Chris is also dedicating more time to writing and original production these days, some solo and some with legendary BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong. The duo's first two productions More Intensity and Deep End have both been released in Europe and have taken Ibiza by storm over the last two summers. ''Ive been working on some really exciting stuff and have been very inspired lately,'' he shares enthusiastically. As half of the award-winning remix/production duo Thunderpuss, Chris worked on records for the worlds biggest stars, including Madonna, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, and Jennifer Lopez. As recording artists, Thunderpuss made history in early 2003 with Head, the first record ever to top a Billboard chart (in this case, the Hot Dance Music/Club Play list) without being signed to a label. It was the third Number One for Thunderpuss' own material.Chris is an acclaimed DJ who regularly tours numerous cities in the U.S. and has expanded his international profile with recent gigs in London, Prague, Paris, Rio and Mexico City. His potent blend of tribal rhythms, pulsing house, and soaring vocals is a hit in both straight and gay clubs; growing up in the former arena, he has become a DJ icon in the latter. He has played everything from Playboy events to underground gay leather parties without breaking a sweat. And while his contemporaries are out on the town seven nights a week, Chris is happy being a normal guy in Los Angeles. He is a major player in the dance music world and often so removed from it all at once. Achieving that balance may be what keeps him focused on progressing to the next stage of his career.''Ive devoted so much of my life to it,'' Chris says. ''My time, my money, my health, my social life and relationships, for the love of music and the love of the crowd and the love of what I do. I always kind of knew it would be a worthwhile payoff. I never quite knew what I was going to attain, but I knew I would attain something.''Chris Cox has clearly set off on a course toward dance music world domination. Dont be surprised if the path ultimately leads right back to his front door.Pete Glowatsky
