THE PUZZLE..EASTERN EUROPE POP GENIUS
"As I travel around it's Budapest's The Puzzle that is the find of the year in my dj travels. The song "You're so cruel" begins with..... give me medication, give me what I want..... It's like Zeppelin done by John Lennon in '74. The Puzzle from Hungary rock like a motherfucker..."
Alan McGee
Opening with bold, classic rock inspired guitars, ‘You’re So Cruel’ immediately stands out as something that is a little bit different, and just a little bit special. The Puzzle are definitely promising.
Gigwise
It comes as no surprise at all that Alan McGee has something to do with this band, 'You're So Cruel' has more swagger than a penguin with a limp. Totally reminiscent of that other band he worked with.
Ob-Scene
Slack jawed blues with a country twang given the epic dynamics of Kasabian with the rock n roll bluster of Oasis when they’ve been backed into a corner…
Subba-Cultcha
AN ANTIQUATED BUT REWARDING 4-PIECE With it's luscious Brit-pop roots and gargled vocals it's no wonder that Alan McGee is a fan - and with good reason too. 8/10

FINALLY WE'RE RELEASING OUR DEBUT SINGLE IN THE UK!!
Our first ltd. edition 7" / iTunes UK single will be out this summer in the UK (and hopefully in other parts of the world too!!) through a new London based label Weekender Records .
It will be "you're so cruel" as on our profile above. We recorded it in the Hungarian National Radio's big studio which is like a vintage Abbey Road with Rolan Bolan doing the backing vocals (son of Marc Bolan, the legendary late singer with T.Rex).
Friend and patron Alan McGee helped in production and we got the wizard named George Shilling (Primal Scream, 22-20s) to mix it, and remix for the B side comes from the shit hot London based dj/producer duo SKULL JUICE , to have some electro dancy tune there as well!!
The Puzzle are an originally Hungarian indie 4-piece now living in London.
Alan McGee described them playing live that they are a Zeppelinesque journey with a singer like the '65 Lennon!
Coming from the New Europe, they were one of the most exciting and buzzing bands in the Eastern-European region with their English songs. Their stunning debut album - released by Universal in Hungary - was one of the local indie high-points of the year of it's release, and it was followed by a massive tour in the region. But in 2004 May they deicided to give up everything and moved to London to restart their career.
Since then they played tons of gigs, from Bull&Gate to the Club Fandango nights, were invited by BBC Merseyside for a live acoustic session, currently supported ZOOT WOMAN at their only 2006 London date and they are regular guests of Alan McGee's various London clubnights from Death Disco to Queen is Dead at the Borderline!
2007 February The Puzzle launched the Great-Britmania festival alongside patron Alan McGee, Ladytron and Yonderboi.
"..they've relocated to London, but that doesn't change the fact that their brand of of "old skool" psychedelic indie-rock is as universal as.. well.. breathing!" BBC Merseyside
"The Puzzle are Hungary's finest. Extracting a psychedelic old skool indie pop noise from a Bulls Bloodied haze, Spiked Hungarian rock toying with the London luvvies." Fandango
"With the garage rock sound of the "London's Burning" scene fused with the energetic sound of their continental counterparts Mando Diao they have created a very accessible indie sound that has great commercial potential." JOYZINE
