Following a lengthy winter sojourn, BE made a triumphant return in April to the re-located Proud in Camden. We're now right back where we left off... except bigger and louder. Next night is this Sat 7th June, expect music, mayhem and rock n roll glam over 3 huge gallery spaces in a 200 year old building! (and yes, an outside terrace). So get ya glad rags on, we're at it again...
Sat 7th June - Be Presents ... Foals DJs, The Invisible, My Sad Captains, Pivot live
8pm - 2.30am
Entry £10 all night
FOALS DJs
Do our very special guests tonight really need an introduction? Linking the minimalism of American composer Steve Reich, guitars that sound like insects and… tennis player Andy Roddick (one of lead singer Yannis’ obsession), they’ve brought their pristine, perfectly formed dance rock just about everywhere in this country and beyond, with live shows that not so much fizz with energy, but explode like a well-shaken bottle of champagne. Which is the least we expect from their DJ set too ! Oh yes, one thing you might not know about them yet : they christened themselves Foals as a nod to Yannis’ surname, which means “little lover of horses†in Greek. Sweet.

PIVOT live
Pivot are not only the first Australian band ever signed by Warp Records, but also quite possibly the first band formed onstage at The Sydney Opera House. The three-piece will release new EP In The Blood at the end of May, and have already showcased their furious live talent on their home over in Oz alongside the likes of Battles, Four Tet and Deerhoof. Equally influenced by Warp label-mates Autechre, the post-punk new wave of Talking Heads, and synthesizer luminaries Vangelis and Jean-Michel Jarre. No need to stress how over excited we are to bring them to the hallowed turf of Camden Stables Market!

THE INVISIBLE live
The Invisible are Dave Okumu (formerly of Jade Fox), Tom Herbert (Polar Bear/Acoustic Ladyland) and Leo Taylor (Gramme/Zongamin). They have crafted a piece of ethereal music, wide-ranging in its influences; giving a distinct nod to Sonic Youth and Radiohead in their guitar experimentation, there are rhythmic, African elements borrowed from Talking Heads; harmonic influences from Queens of the Stone Age, whilst classical and medieval church music and even Prince get a wink and a smile in the mix. Dave compares their sound to moonlight on shimmering water, "The Invisible make music that will draw you into a secret affinity with it, and slowly lead you home", he states, trying to capture the unique tone of the recordings to date. ‘Image And Distraction’ is their first album produced by electronic pioneer Matthew Herbert and will be released this Summer on Accidental Records.

MY SAD CAPTAINS live
With their sparkling indie pop in the vein of Pavement, The Lemonheads or Broken Social Scene, My Sad Captains are definitely ones to watch. Described by The Fly as "Calexico’s poppier cousins...genuinely tuneful country tinged songs...one of the capital’s best kept secrets", their second single All Hat And No Plans / Great Expectations is out now on White Heat Records.
