Sidecar Swampy

I don't know who you are, I'll put you in a jar

About Me

"NAM-MYOHO-RENGE-KYO IS LIKE THE ROAR OF A LION"Hello everybody my name is Swampy (not a female despite what my profile settings say, does anyone know how to change that?!) I'm 25 from Melton Mowbray (where the pies come from) but now I live in Nottingham as I wanted to pursue my musical dream and be closer to my beloved football team Nottingham Forest! I'm a big big fan of music of all different varieties and love meeting crazy new peeps so good to meet you, oh random one (tips his bonnet) I first got into music at the tender age of 11 winning a clapping competition at school! This led to drum lessons which I got hooked on and just kept going ever since really. I went to Music College in Leicester and met lots of fellow lazy musicians and started playing in lots of ska-punk type bands such as The Random Discords and Mr Tickle among others (Never heard of them? I'm not surprised!) After a bit of a break from music I got a job walking dogs, I then decided enough is enough and enrolled at Confetti in Nottingham to study Music Technology. It was there I met Ollie (Uber Corti) and Jon Barnes (Matra) -Not THE John Barnes although I did have a very surreal phone conversation with him once! We put our heads together and did a few gigs as a 3 piece electronic act, but it didn't quite work out so we all decided to concentrate on our solo projects. So this is my effort! The music on this site has been knocking about for 2/3 years, some of the tracks I'm more happy with than others. I primarily play the drums (am saving up for top of the range Roland V Drums at the minute) but I also provide vocals which you can hear on some of these tracks. All the tracks I make are programmed by myself in Logic on my laptop- I would like to point out I don't have a MIDI Keyboard or anything so all the sounds I make are indivdually hand crafted-yes it takes AGES! My set at the minute consists of a DJ Set on Ableton Live which mixes all the styles that have influenced me, with my own music thrown in for good measure- anything from Funk/Dub/Jazz/Breaks all sorts really. I also love vinyl and have quite a large record collection but oddly no decks! So far I have released an EP entitled "Music To Wear Hats By" and recieved wide spread radio play which has been quite cool. I also play drums in a band called Alright The Captain (check my top 8) and am planning to do extensive gigging this year, both with them and on my own. Watch this space! Oh, and am planning to start a new Electro Night in Notts at the Malt Cross so if you're an electro act and want to come to the city, get in touch! I currently have 20 or so of my own tracks but am working like a little woodland furry creature (namely an otter) on some new ones, You can listen to them on the little I Pod Player below this box (it can be a little temperamental, let me know if it doesn't work, I'll try and fix it) or you can, of course buy my EP by clicking the link below, just make sure you play it loud! Aside from Music I also love football, Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism, eating cheese, watching cartoons and beating people with numchucks. I would like to meet interesting, unique people who live life to the full and think they can beat me at Pro Evo haha. Peace out and cheers for putting up with my ramblings! XxX
