Formed in December 2003, in the tiny shed behind The King's (Frank King Drums/ Backing Vocals) house, with "Andy-Social" (Andy Morency Guitar/Lead Vocals) and "Penny" (Corey Pennebaker Bass/Backing Vocals)The Sheckies were formed with no talent and absolutely no respect for one another as they started making the fun loving sounds of pogo punk rock. With influences of The Ramones, The Riverdales, The Queers, The Nobodys, etc., they play songs about too much T.V. watching, eating, and the tales of heartbreak that no one else willThey recorded their first studio session in March 2004 and released their self produced 3 song EP "Low Budget". This marked a blueprint of the style of songs the band wanted to play...Fast,Hard,Poppy. They let their music do the talking, no need for Mohawks and makeup for this trioIn July 2004 they released their second self produced EP "Punk Rock Beach Party". It took the whole Summer time 60's beach movie theme and turned it into a peppy, snotty, funny, B-movie friendly good time for allThey then went back into the studio in September 2004 and released their third self produced EP of the year, "Shit Outta Luck". A sampler of what was to become their first full length CDIn November 2004 they played 106.7 WDOX's Rockfest at Wildwood, N.J. Convention Hall with 20 other local bands. Amassing more of a local following and making the night fun for everyone because its all they want to doThe Sheckies have received airplay on Jersey City's 91.1 WFMU (named best radio station in the country by Rolling Stone magazine 4 years in a row) and played a live in the studio set at the station for the Pat Duncan show on 5/19/05The band finally released their full length 12 song debut CD "The Sheckies" in 2005. With that accomplished, the band went back into the studio in the Fall to record the follow up CD "Generation TV". This 14 song album was released in Spring of 2006.In July '06 the band embarked on their first ever mini-tour playing shows in RI, MA, ME, PA, & OH. November '06 found the band back on the road with shows in CT, MA, PA, & VA. They also found the time to release their very own DVD with live perfomance clips, interviews, and music videos.February 2007 saw the release of the Cabana 1 Records benefit comp "Where The Fun Never Sets: Vol. 1" featuring the track "Surfin' The Black Lagoon". This June The Sheckies will be on a 4 band/4 song split on Cabana 1 as well. Also coming this summer, a split CD with The Shuttlecocks on Rally Records. We've been getting quite a few requests for CD's, Shirts, etc. Why yes we do have Sheckie merch for you!We now have a shopping cart feature on the website, check it out!
