Desciples is a 5-piece band out of Denver, Colorado. Green J (KEYS) and Stephen (vocals/guitar) met back in 2001. On September 11th J and Stephen started jamming and grew a great friendship. For years they worked on starting projects but all failed. In early 2002 Stephen moved to Denver. He sat alone in his room writing songs about peace, and about trials and tribulations we all deal with, some call this "everday life". Stephen was told by a friend in 2005 to go check out a local open mic night at a bar around the corner. Stephen did, and that's where he met Chilli who insisted that he sit in on Stephen's set and play some congas for him. Stephen and Chilli then formed a cover band project, covering anything from Dave Matthews to Jimi Hendrix. In May of 2006, Chilli called upon the help of some friends, drummer Shawn and bassist Frank. Stephen and Chilli knew after the 1st practice with them that this was the band, DESCIPLES. Over the next few months, the band realized they needed a keyboardist, so Stephen begged his good ol' friend Green J to move out to Denver and join the band.
Since the Desciples were born, they've played well-known Colorado venues and clubs such as the Toad Tavern, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, Herman's Hideaway, Bluebird Theater, The Oriental Theatre, Rock Island, Kilimanjaro's Night Club, Ziggie's Saloon, Rum Bay in Grand Junction, Smitty's Greenlight Tavern in Pueblo, as well as the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, and will embark on a Northwest tour stretching from Seattle to Portland during the Summer of 2007!!! The band had their song "Falling For You" played on the hottest radio station in Denver, KTCL 93.3FM. Desciples also took 1st PLACE out of 150 bands in the state of Colorado that entered Bodog Music's Battle of the Bands competition, which was a nationwide event. They won the event in front of 1400 screaming fans at The Gothic Theatre in December of 2006, reaching a record-breaking capacity crowd for a local band in Gothic Theatre history! 5,000 bands entered nationwide and Desciples became 1 of 17 remaining and won the city of Denver.
The fan base is growing rapidly everyday, and the live shows are spectacular. So spectacular, in fact, that most locals compare the on-stage performance similar to that of a Jimi Hendrix show. When Stephen breaks into a solo playing only with his teeth, you know just how much love he and the guys have for the music they make. There's nothing but passion on the faces of this group when they're out there rocking the stage. It's only gonna get better...these guys are young and will be around for a long time.
