Ravage! Ravage!, “grandson of Marc Almond and Pet Shop Boys†(3voor12), has boldly stepped out of his safe haven the past year.
Before his Coming Out as Ravage! Ravage!, the boy behind the dayglo eye-shadow had been refining his songwriting craft, in absolute secrecy. He promised himself he wouldn't release his lovebabies to the world until they were fully grown, ready to impress and take over.
Silently, he has been improving, dedicating all his precious spare time to his music, whilst living an ordinary boy's life when outside his secret bedsit studio - located in a silent and comfortably generic Suburbia.
The songs - seductive, urgent and fascinatingly inventive “stompers from a postnucleair Ibiza†(3voor12), accompanied with original and often provocative lyrics - are now out there doing their magic, charming human beings all over the world.
Recently, Ravage! Ravage! made his solo live debut - in London (Computer Blue at Bar Music Hall, Shoreditch) of all places - and followed it up with performances in Utrecht (Cruise Control at Acu), Amsterdam (Penis in Vagina at Club 8, RobotRock at Winston, Transmission at Studio 80) and Berlin (Dirty Diamonds at White Trash).
Just in! From now on, to enlighten the pressure on the MP3 player a bit, Ravage! Ravage! will be joined live by bass- and synthplayer De Zwart - who will make the rave-noir even darker than before. (See how I made that rhyme?)
