Vortechtral (Kai Wiggins – Portsmouth - UK) has been producing and performing live electronic music from ambient to techno, through his aliases, Vortechtral, Vortechtral AM, and Benni Blanco since early 1998.
The Vortechtral sound is a big room fusion of bass line driven techno, electro and pumping house influences, combining to create a highly infectious and musical style. Releases and remixes have gone out on labels across the world, such as Audionautica, Primate / Endangered Species, Intravenous Cuts, Punch Funk, Dazed, Teggno, Prozak, alongside his own labels, the hugely popular global Techment Records, also Techtonic and Ind Dep Recordings, and seen support from DJs across the global dance scene including, Cave, Olivier Giacomotto, Wehbba, Ian Void, DJ Preach, Marco G, Pedro Delgardo, Gray, John Acquaviva, Axel Karakasis, DJ Misjah, Martyn Hare, Bryan Cox, Q’Hey, Rob TS, DJ Irish, Christian Fischer, and many others... With many tracks featured on CD compilations, mix compilations, radio shows, DJ charts, and in both the film and gaming industry, and a constantly busy release and remix schedule ahead, including releases on DJ Mika’s new label Innervate, Patterns, Techhead, and an exclusive mixed compilation CD on Style, the future looks very bright for this UK producer.
The Vortechtral AM sound pushes more into the territory Kai has worked with for years, offering an output on his In Deep label, for more downtempo and jazz influenced material, spanning a massive blend of influences from The Orb, Laurent Garnier, The Chemical Brothers, FSOL, Aphex Twin, Orbital, Kevin Yost, to name a few.
Away from the studio, his live techno and electronica Pas, and high octane funky DJ sets have given him residencies and featured bookings at numerous high profile events and venues around Europe, including: Punch Funk, Homelands, Contact, Hard Lines / Geushky, Jarred, Turnmills, Subtechment, and many more, booked alongside such names as Alex Patterson (The Orb), Ollie Teeba (The Herbaliser), Killian’s, Martyn Hare, Proteus, Lab 4, Ed Real, Joe Doe, Ian Void (Geushky), John Warwick and more. Signed on to MOSP agency in Chezch. He also hosts a bi weekely show the Technologic Sessions on the Digitally Imported radio station.
Vortechtral runs events in Portsmouth UK with Ian Void, and Simon Heartfield, he also studio engineers for other many artists DJs, and labels worldwide, and creates and performs visual and design work for clients across the globe.
