ELECTRIC ROOM @ FUSE

BIOGRAPHY
Sam Ostyn's musical career is a symbiotic combination of producing and DJ'ing. Besides playing at Belgian's finest clubs and events, his release schedule is expanding with releases on well-referenced international record labels like Technorient and Electric Art Recordings.
His love for music was passed on to him by his father who owned an eclectic vinyl collection, including many Motown - Stax and Atlantic records. By 1995 it was time to start his soul search for early electronic Detroit releases and contemporary electronic music. This lead to several dj-gigs in the Belgian nightlife alongside international dj's and live acts such as Jeff Mills, Aardvarck, Robert Hood, Deetron, Orlando Voorn, Newworldaquarium, B12, Mark Broom, Ra.H, The Black Dog, Arne Weinberg, Monika Kruse and many more.
Having bought his first synth in 1996, he developed ‘The Electric Institute’ into one of Belgium's finest personal recording studios where he would experiment and start working on his own productions.
At the turn of the millennium, Sam met former Fuse resident Trish Van Eynde. Having the same musical heroes inspired them to team up a year later and they have been working together ever since. Their unique view on Detroit-inspired electronic music was at the essence of their first contributions to the "Chrome Resident Eps" and certainly on their debut 12" "Open Window EP" on MB Elektronics. The marvels of these works did not go unnoticed as it attracted attention from the likes of Derrick May, Carl Craig and Ken Ishii to name a few. An exclusive internet remix of Laurent Garnier's "Controlling the House" and an appearance on Ken Ishii’s “Sunriser” and “Play, Pause and Play” reflected their love for motor city foundations and their alliance with Amil Khan & Charles Siegling for their Hong Kong based Technorient imprint promised to be the beginning of a long musical journey.
Since 2007 hosting the monthly ‘Electric Room’ parties at legendary Fuse Club, and running the Electric Art Recordings label, uniting a futuristic vision and interstellar soundwaves, their journey is all about electrifying post millennium spirits into a universal mindframe .
Sam Ostyn's productions and mixing style unmistakably spread lots of warmth, said to be electronic music filled with soul, funk and passion. Call it "soulful high-tech funk" if you like, although all this categorizing is such nonsense. It's his way of combining old and new waves that has proven to be a success on the dancefloor time after time.

PRESS REVIEWS
"My old Transmat t-shirt mysteriously sprouted a huge penis when this luxurious killer from tech-stalwart Sam Ostyn and Fuse resident Trish Van Eynde began weaving its magic. After a lush, lengthy intro it's apparent that, yes, "Strings Of Life" is back to life once more - but more in spirit as the synths and strings flicker and dance off on their own path. There's just the one riff that's obviously recognisable (not that one). The rest is kind of auto-suggestion and that unique vibe. The breakdown rams it home like a technoid bacon torpedo. By then it's a brilliant, twisting, spectacular thing of it's own. The Revisited Version is stripped down with ever-swelling chords - like one big buildup until the intricately devastating drop. Made with love, delivered with soul and surely the whole point of the thing in the first place. Mayday can only be proud." ... DMC Update UK

"The key to "getting" this record lies in it's title. Inspired by Derrick May as much as it is by Technasia - it's released on an offshoot of the French-Asian duo's Technorient - there are epic strings, deep emotive chords and a warm, fluid bassline, but also a robust, insistent backing in the vein of Technasia's clubby sound. The alternate version is darker and more pumping, but still makes nods to emotive musicality with resonating chords throughout the rumbling composition." ... DJ Magazine UK

"Ultimate and extreme melodic dancefloor action, Sam Ostyn and Trish Van Eynde throw away the loop folders and concentrate on intricate arpeggiators and elaborate knob twiddling to get the party going. And the result is something to get wet about, especially when the break kicks into action with some wonderful old school claps and infectiously shaky hi-hats. If you like Technasia, youll love this. Top notch!" ... M8 Magazine UK / Mixer Magazine USA

"Very nice record, Both sides rock !! It's getting very good reactions from the crowd." ...DJ Rolando (Los Hermanos, Underground Resistance)

"A true tribute to Detroit Techno. It sounds really classic, but it's always a pleasure to listen / play a record like this. My full support !!!" ...Angel Molina
