About Me

Layout courtesy of
MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCEAbout my page:EVERY picture you see anywhere on here (besides comments) hoverable for text (if yr not on firefox), cos I like to babble about my interests, and is clickable, cos I like to plug for those I love or even those I just find truly nifty. These lovely features are also because when I'm at my mom's house, I sometimes find myself with too much time on my hands.More Pics:If you know my last name (first letter capitalized), then use it as the a password at kodakgallery.com/serena and you can see pics of my friends, family, journeys, and anything else that got in front of the lens. New Pics uploaded January 13th!I definitely agree:"I am pretty sure that, if you will be quite honest, you will admit that a good rousing sneeze, one that tears open your collar and throws your hair into your eyes, is really one of life's sensational pleasures." ~Robert BenchleyAbout me:I'm a tree hugging overweight sexy nearly-vegetarian, born and raised on Long Island, now live in PA, but you'll find me at shows in Albany NY, Hartford CT, Holmdel, NJ, Baltimore, MD, and anywhere else Mapquest can get me to in a few hours.I'm a happy balance between optimistic and jaded.I strongly agree with the man, sometimes nothing is a real cool hand.um... i'm usually broke, like to do yoga, starting to look into the teachings of Budda Shakyamuni, learning to let go of my desires and my self. Maybe it will lead to letting go of less of my money so I can keep my car in better repair... but I'm not attached to any particular outcome. (that was an inside joke. wait.. jokes are funny..)Visit my cousin's store for more stuff like the following. Or just enjoy the pretty pictures =)

My Interests

I feel you can read everthing that follows and still not have a clue who I truly am. Then if I read someone's profile and find we have many of the same interests and favorite entertainment, I think "This person is really cool! I bet we'd get along." ...I'm sure I'm a hypocrite about other things, too.

Anyway, in case it matters or just for fun, here it is:
I'm interested in opening a vegetarian B&B when I'm older. Probably much older, cos I have no startup capital. For now, I'm all about road trips with friends, loud music, cleavage, art, workin out (yoga, pilates, rowing, and my new bellydance video that is kicking my a$$), reading, tofutti cuties, skiing, hiking, Frank the giant bunny, organic food (I buy it and believe in it, but am not interested or educated enough to strike up a conversation about it, so please don't bother), scifi, girls that look like Betty Page...

I'd like to meet:

Friends who aren't a bad influenced, cos despite being strong and knowing who I am, I'm sometimes easily influenced.A tongue ring.Someone to be paid in cash, art, or other negociations to draw me a picture of a dragon to my specifications so I can go get tattooed.Non-smokers who like to eat (and cook?) good vegetarian food, or vegan if you prefer.Anyone I can kick back and have a good time with. Someone who can make me think but doesn't mind if my mind takes the night off.

Music:

,
, , , , , , , ,metal, 80's, blues, anything heavy on primal drums, sometimes ska, and the rap that white girls like (slim shady and snoop dogg). I know I'm a big dork. And I miss going to punk shows.

Movies:

, Kung Fu Hustle, Transylvania 6-5000, Princess Bride, eXistenZ, Dogma, Marilyn Monroe flicks, anything with zombies, Donnie Darko, Labrynth, The Dark Crystal, Flight of Dragons, Mallrats, anything Monty Python, Rumble in the Bronx

Television:

You Are the Swedish Chef
"Bork! Bork! Bork!"
Your happy and energetic - with borderline manic tendencies.
No one really gets you. And frankly, you don't even get you.
But, you sure can whip up a great chocolate mousse The Muppet Personality Test

Books:

, anything by Tom Robbins ,Stephen King ,Kurt Vonnegut ,Roald Dahl ,Stories by C.S. Lewis & J.R.R. Tolkein, Weekly World News,The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love(or most any book with gender issues ),The Catcher in the Rye ,poetry by Charles Bukowski (gritty and raw) or Les Barker (although he is much more fun and funny live)

Heroes:

My Dad. He purposely got laid off from a well paying but shitty job, took some courses while he was on unemployment, and went into business for himself as a musician and recording engineer. Sure, he spent a few years running out of money and having a mental breakdown, but I am just in awe of him for having the courage. And now he is actually even making money doing what he loves! And now for 3 additions to this list. My dad has been in this spot since I first created my profile, but he is not the only one that deserves to be here anymore.Padhia used to live up the block from me, and she was the only other non-protestant in our states-streets neighborhood on Long Island. She was my first friend in the new neighborhood. We invented molassas pancakes in her mom's kitchen one summer afternoon, and I don't even think they tasted horrible. When we were older, she used to take care of my disabled kid sister every day after school. That in itself could qualify her to be in this section, but has nothing to do with it. That is just so you know. When I was in Jr. High and she was in High School, I thought she was the absolute coolest girl that ever was. But really, she is up here cos she got herself out of a bad situation and into one where she could thrive and grow and be artistic and creative, got her own business up and running. And then finally found the man who is going to treat her like the princess she is for the rest of their lives, so she married him. Boy is he lucky, and I can't wait to meet him so I can shake his hand. She is the warmest, sunniest, sweetest, silliest and most caring person on this earth. She is the big sister I almost didn't have, and I am SO proud of her for everything she is that my chest swells and my eyes get hot if I think too much about it.so on to the next...Gatisa is my partner in crime, the pea in my pod, my better half, the sparkle in my eye and on my bling, my evil twin. We like almost the same stuff, usually in different colors (including our twin nissan maximas), so we're rarely in competition when it comes to shopping for clothes or picking out boys. And so when we go out together, whether or not we got dressed up together, we often appear as a lovely matched set, if not a package deal. That is why we get along so spendidly, but not why she is in this section. That is just so you know. She has not conformed to the way we're expected to grow up and be, she has always lived by her rules. Obviously she has to make her life fit into our society, but it doesn't mold her, she is free. And recently she is even more free, cos she told her evil office job to go fuck off so she could go explore what it really is she wants to be doing with her life. And she still managed to get unemployment. AND she is still finds time to have fun with me. On 4/13/07, we're embarking on our first joint overseas adventure. To Amsterdam! And the third entry is my cousin danny, except i'm tired of writing, so check back some other time to hear all about him.

I had to say goodbye to an old friend today.

Slash, my dog's father, was a 200 pound giant alaskan malamute and wolf mutt, and belonged to Shane, who I adopted as my big brother 11 years ago. He was a fearsome, gentle, beautiful animal...

Been to Canaan, tasted my death, and conqured fear.
