Stuff, people, sounds, animals, places, smells, eating, drinking, the world, being me, life.... you get the idea..?
Anthony Bourdain, Jim Jarmusch, and many others...
There's only two types of music- good music and bad music! In the former camp I'm putting Tom Waits, Janis Joplin, Miles Davis, Ben Webster, Illinos Jacquet, Manu Chao, Doctor John, The Clash, Howling Wolf, Billy Holliday, Gil Scott Heron, the Stooges etc etc... this list could go on and on! Basically anything soulful, usually a bit blues-y and slightly on the raw side.
Jim Jarmusch (especially Deadman), La Reine Margot, Wim Wenders, Santa Sangre, Fitzcarraldo, Blue Velvet, Smoke, Jeunet and Carot, Dr Caligari, Barfly, Bonnie and Clyde, Les Enfants du Paradis, Rififfi, Nosferatu, Studio Ghibli, Jacques Tourneur....
lost interest in most of it some time ago...
Anthony Bourdain, James Ellroy, Philip Pullman, Paul Auster, Philip K Dick, Kurt Vonnegut, Neil Gaiman...
Vaclav Havel, for this speech... "Without a global revolution in the sphere of human consciousness, nothing will change for the better in the sphere of our being as humans and the catastrophe toward which this world is headed - be it ecological, social, demographic or a general breakdown of civilization - will be unavoidable! We are still incapable of understanding that the only genuine backbone of all our actions, if, they are to be moral, is responsibility. Responsibility to something higher than my family, my country, my company, my success - responsibility to the order of being where all our actions are indelibly recorded and where, and only where, they will be properly judged."
