There seems to be a theme going on when you look at the young female artists of the last few years. You see them in their interviews and it makes sense. Theyre having fun, they dont particularly give a shit, its as it should be. Then you buy their album, and the voice and the songs of a 27 year old hit you. Now dont get me wrong, its impressive, but its hardly the kind of music that particularly relates to their own generation. Its music for everyone, it sells, your mumll like it .. Theres a girl, her names Lucy, shes 19 and shes from Liverpool. She sings, and she writes. Her songs arent pretty songs, and if youre looking for a forever love kind of thing, Im sorry but its never really going to happen. What she does write about is how she sees it. The friends that never shut up about themselves, the kind of days when youre just fated to make a balls up of everything, and the nights when youre looking pretty goodand then that girl walks in wearing a dress the size of a tea towel magically making you invisible. She hasnt been pushed, pulled and moulded into what some 40year old A&R guy thinks the kids want. Shes been left alone, to do what she does. Like it or loathe it, its honest.
