Works by Carlos Paredes arranged for harpsichord:“Carlos Paredes’ music makes many references to what seems to be the idiomatic language of harpsichord: the use of the chromatic scale in the bass line, rich harmonies repeated to exhaustively, repeated notes… Portuguese guitar and harpsichord share the same function as accompaniment. It is very interesting to notice the resemblance of the accompaniment skills of the guitar in fado and the propotypal accompaniment of bass continuo in harpsichord.
