In the spring of 2004 there appeared on the overpopulated southern hip hop scene an audacious new voice. That daring innovative sound was Southern Intellect. The launch of their self-titled debut album has seen them grow from a young local group to a regional force for the future. The album Southern Intellect was the catalyst to new professional opportunities for these young men from Houston. Shortly after their albums debut, S.I. was offered a distribution deal which engaged in a vigorous schedule of appearances, promotions and concerts. In the summer and fall of 2004 their efforts saw S.I. perform alongside the likes of Youngbloods, Ying Yang Twins, Killer Mike and Dead Prez among others. Touring the Texas area, Southern Intellect has steadily forged a substantial fan base that is progressively expanding to include the entire south west region.
Southern Intellects most recent project, slated for release, has them collaborating with the likes of N.I.M.R.O.D. (RBG / Peoples Army / Dead Prez), Magno aka Magnifecent (Wildlife Rec / Desert Storm South), Tash of Tha Liks (Likwit Crew), West Coast Producers :The Wilson's : B-DUB & Dre Boogie Wilson (Kurupt, E-40, Truth Hurts, Loon, Outlaws) The Entire S.I. Click Familia, among other surprise guests. The new album will challenge the creative musical limits of hip hop in the attempt to appeal to a wider, more diversified fan base. Experimenting with a fusion influenced by numerous sounds S.I. Click hopes to continue the stimulating tradition of their debut album. Future aspirations include the continued evolution of their sound and their message, with the hopes of cementing a musical legacy that goes beyond a fad. With increased respectability, comes increased responsibility. Southern Intellect is up to the challenge. The artistic vision for the near future will have them appearing in a city near you.
