Robert Moog R.I.P. and Don Buchla--DON BUCHLA- Born in Southgate (California) 1937, Don Buchla was one of the pioneer inventors and developers of the modern synthesizer and music circuit, along with ROBERT MOOG. Being educated in physics, physiology, and music, his talent was credited in different fields including multi-media composition, space biophysics research, and musical instrument design. Much of his work includes the development of instrumentation for biofeedback and physiological telemetry, and design of high level music composition languages. In 1962 Buchla started to work in the development of a voltage-controlled synthesizer after the demand of Avant-Garde composers MORTON SUBOTNICK and Ramon Sender of an electronic device to generate sounds. Buchla conceived and produced his legendary 100 Modular Electronic System, which was presented just a few months after Robert Moog's first modular sytem in 1963.
