A Little About Myself
Full name, Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri, grew up in Mexico, contrary to what most people think, Luis was not born there, but in Puerto Rico. Born in 1970 the son of Italian actress Marcela Basteri and of Spanish guitarist Luis Gallego, he obtained Mexican nationality several years later.
At 12 years of age he recorded his first disk and at 15 had made five disks and won his first Grammy. In 1987 he released the album 'Soy como quiero ser', (I Am Who I Want To Be) with the collaboration of Juan Carlos CalderÃ³n. For this disk he earned 8 gold and 5 silver awards, beginning his career as a sex-symbol in all Latin-America. The following year he released 'Un hombre busca una mujer', (A Man Looks For A Woman) with which he made a complete tour of the the American continent.
Equally at home with boleros or pop this young singer has stamped his mark on the industry. He has sold more than 50 million disks and truly earned himself the nickname of "The Idol". He has had several relationships and is now married and has a beautiful child.
